Can no longer export from Garmin Connect to gpx

For many years I have been exporting my completed cycle rides from Garmin Connect to gpx files, using Windows 11. Over the last few weeks I have been unable to do this. I know that I can export to fit files, load into mapping software and then export to gpx but that is a lengthy solution.

I have used the exported gpx files as proof of passage for my Audax DIY rides, showing that the solution of exporting direct from Garmin Connect has been successful.

Is anyone else having the same difficulty?

  • All the l8nks send me in circles with no proper solution.

I can't offer the fix, but there are some workarounds - either use the function Save as Course on the activity page of GC Web, and then export the course as GPX. Or export is as FIT file (the first export option), and then use an external tool to convert the FIT file to any other format you need, including GPX.

  • Yep. Same here. Connect says the .gpx file is too large. So I download it as a .fit file, which I then upload to RWGPS (free version). From there I download it as a .gpx file to my computer. So instead of being a one step solution it's a three step. Still takes less than a minute.

  • Please fix these timeouts.
It only occours when exporting big gpx files.
I know that I can try the workaround with FIT, but...
    Grazie

  • I have the same issue.

I can download FIT format (1MB unzipped size) but if I want to export it as GPX then I get nothing ;-(

The system works properly ca 1 year ago.

It is sad that Garmin has the great HW but terrible SW and can not fix it soon.
