This is exhausting

I sign in to Garmin Connect Web every now and then using Chrome on a Windows PC, the site remembers my login credentials (they're prefilled in the boxes) but does not automatically sign in until I click on Remember Me followed by I'm Not A Robot followed by Sign In. Site remembers my login for the day and then forgets the next day. Is it just me or is this happening to everyone too?

  • Is it just me or is this happening to everyone too?

Does not happen to me, but there are some other users reporting it. I would try clearing the browser cache and cookies, try temporarily disabling all browser extensions, diverse adblockers and anti-viruses, and see whether it has any impact. Also trying a different browser, different computer, or an alternative Internet connection could help localizing where the problems come from.

  • the site remembers my login credentials (they're prefilled in the boxes)

this is kind of a nitpick but I’m almost 100% certain that it’s Chrome which is prefilling your credentials, not the site itself.

if the site would prefill anything, it would only prefill the username, and if it were to “completely remember you”, then it would just skip the login process.

but yeah, this sounds super annoying

  • This happens to me both here on the forums and on web Connect (connect.garmin.com).  Not constantly, but regularly about every 2½-3 days.  My best guess so far is that they set a stupidly short expiration date on the cookie that stores your login information, and don't update it when you visit the site again.

Yeah I guess the “remember me” checkbox is just a suggestion, not a guarantee :/

It would then happen to everyone, which is not the case. I have to re-login about unce a month, perhaps two weeks (not entirely sure). And it is the same with the 3 accounts I use, on three different browsers.

Do you have the 2FA enabled on your account? Perhaps the expiry is shorter then.

Besides the tips in my previous post, I would also check whether the system time and date are accurate on your computer.

  • I don't have 2FA enabled, I don't purge cookies or use any kind of cleanup utility, I'm not running Garmin in a private window, my system time is set automatically from time.nist.gov, and I don't have this issue with any other website that asks me to log in.  Even though forums.garmin.com and connect.garmin.com have separate login functions, I usually find myself logged out of them at the same time. It still strikes me as a bug in how they set their cookies.

Don't get me wrong; I appreciate your sincere response.  To me, though, the fact you have no trouble, I have trouble every few days, other people report they have to log back in every few minutes, and several people report consistent effects across different browsers supports the idea Garmin's website is being erratic.  I haven't ruled out a browser extension, but again, Garmin.com is the only site that produces this issue for me.

  • To make things even weirder, I have 2FA, but I practically never have to login to Garmin Connect Web. But I have to re-login to the forums maybe 1 time out of 3, and I check the forums at least once a day.

  • I don't purge cookies

I would try it then. Just delete cookies for all Garmin subdomains, and see whether it makes any difference. At first, you will have to re-login, after the deletion anyway, though.

  •  At least for me purging cookies hasn't made any difference. I'm currently suspecting that the fact that I'm logging in using several devices might be a factor.
