What are the number of points needed for Levels from challenges/ badges?

Please can Garmin publish a list of how many total points are  needed for each level as well as how many points to the next level.

Also I have heard that there are now 10 levels, can you confirm this?

Has anyone tried to keep track of each time they get a new level and the points to the next level? If so we can workout a few of the numbers.

  • I use it and the active intelligence is very helpful. Until you actually use the premium service, it is not possible to see how good it is in fact.

  • The system does not put the emphasis on swimming, weight training, and cycling that it should.

I think you are not right, especially regarding cycling, I see a lot of badges cycling related every month, I would say even more than for running.

I do scuba dive and I also could say it is not fair because do 100 dives is more complicated than doing 100 runs on treadmill or 100 HIIT or YOGA activities.

And for me personally this sytem if fair, if you want compete and be on higher level, do your work and you will be there.

  • I run and cycle. There are less cycling badges, they are worth less and can't be combined as easily as the running badges. For example, I could do the 5K or 10k run badge on the same day as doing the 15K run badge. There is no equivalent for the 40K ride. It's not at the same time as the 100K weekly ride so I couldn't get the 40K and 100K on a single 100K ride.

Another example, there are FIVE recurrent 8 points running distance badges while there are only ONE recurrent cycling distance badge (century).

Recurring cycling badges with 8 points:

    • Speedy Century
    • 100-Mile Ride
    • Indoor 4-Hour Ride
    • Tacx 100K Ride

So about the same as running. If you do a 4+h indoor ride over 100 miles using Tacx, you can get relatively easily 32 points with a single ride. Do it every day, and together with the cycling challanges and other badges that you collect along with it, you get the level 10 within ¾ of a year. That's not even possible with running. I'd tell that picking up points is easier with cycling than with running.

  • Great point!  I still feel a much better system is one based on 365 points a level and a balance approach among ALL activities. If you do an activity that is difficult like a marathon or deep dive, these achievements need to be awarded at least 20 points.  The system has little value if it is not motivating users.  The levels need to be scalable and be awarded in increments that make sense. A person who has been consistently exercising and competing for ten year continously is much more fit than a person who had a good year and then slacked off.

I've done this exactly once. I wouldn't call it easy Joy

  • I wouldn't call it easy

Well, running a marathon is not that easy (for an average bloke) either, but still you get only 8 points for it, while with cycling you can get 32 or even more points (i.e. including a 40k, 100k or another similar monthly challenges with it). Still, I think the system is sufficiently fair, and stimulates people to do as many activities and as of many different types as they can.

  • I could do the 5K or 10k run badge on the same day as doing the 15K run badge

You cannot, 5K and 10K badges are always time limited and never overlap, 15K with one of those yes.
But as described, still much more points are possible to get with cycling.

If you like challenges it will motivate you.
From my point of view difference between levels are fine, to reach next level you have to double points from previous level.
It is always reasonable, if you start from zero and you are not in good shape you are relatively easly rewarded to get next level but in time your fitnes level should growth and you need to do more to be reach next level.

  • You can get more than 200 points per year just while sleeping.

48 points from meeting a daily step challenge for a year (set daily target to 100 steps to make it easier).

12 points just by recording hydration.
