Assigning default gear for individual activities

I just bought a pair of trail running shoes in addition to my road running shoes. I'd like to set up Garmin Connect such that when I choose 'run' on my Fenix 3, my road running shoes are linked and when I choose 'trail run' it knows that I'll be using the trail running shoes.

Currently I can only select 'other' when I choose an activity assigned to my trail running shoes, 'trail running' is not listed as an option under gear settings.

I have the same problem with my road and mountain bike.

Practically a no brainer - there should be a default gear option for any of these activity sub-categories.

This gear function is loong overdue! I am a spinning instructor and as well as road cycling it would be GREAT if i could attribute spinning bike and road bike gear separately to specific activities ...COME ON GARMIN... pull your socks up and sort this out!

True, but then I need to remember to do this. Why not have Garmin Connect do it automatically, since there are specific cycling types already available and already get selected automatically when I upload the activity?

It would almost be better to have no gear identified, rather than the wrong one defaulted and have to remember to change it.

This is not something the user forum could help you with. We can only give you existing solutions. For new feature requests of improvements you need to speak directly to Garmin: https://www.garmin.com/forms/ideas/

it would really be an appreciated feature. it's so annoying to manually enter the gear after every sub activity..

I'm pretty stunned and disappointed that my TACX activities are still not uploading to my Garmin account.. :-( and default equipment per type of activity would also be a bonus.. But I suggest that Garmin doesn't rush it.. I understand that they only bought TACX a short time ago..(Feb 2019).. Oh... I just realized it's over 18 months since Garmin bought TACX maybe they should have done something by now. Unhappy Garmin customer with ~6 Garmin watches, 1 TACX flux 2 at home.
