Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

Thank you for the continued discussion and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

06/19/2018: A new update has been posted here.

  • Yes, strange indeed. For watches there is the list you mentioned, but there is no list for other devices. And why would I need a specific device to register my hydration? Hydration is registered via the GC app on your phone or via the website.

  • And why would I need a specific device to register my hydration?

That's not a question we could answer here on the forum. I recommend reaching out to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com and asking them. Use the Phone or Chat options for an instant response. Email exchanges usually take a few days.

  • I have a badge that hasn't been awarded.  It was from an activity several years ago. But I'm trying now to collect them as a motivation for myself.

The badge in question is 'Toasty' where I completed an activity (cycling) when the temp. was over 100 degrees.

Here is the link to that activity.

    <iframe src='connect.garmin.com/.../2859979498' title='Tucson Cycling' width='465' height='500' frameborder='0'></iframe>

Does anyone know how to get Garmin to accept and award this?

  • Your activity map shows the temperature of 23.9°C (75°F). That's far too low for that badge. The temperature at the start of the activity has to be over 38°C (100°F). Next time interrupt the activity when the temperature rises above 100°F, and restart. You can use the feature Change Sport to keep both parts in the same Multisport activity.

In fact you can do it even now, by splitting the old activity into two multisport legs, making sure that the second part begins when the weather was already sufficiently warm. You can also just simply edit the starting time, without splitting the activity. The temperature on the map must show a value over 38°C (100°F).

  • I registered for a number of the December 2024 walking\step related badges. I was awarded the over 300,000 steps but despite recording a multi-day hike totalling 116km during the month, as well as several other one day hikes on my Fenix 7 I was not awarded any walking related points. e.g the December time to walk (record 15 hours of walking activity) or the December walking (record 30 hours of walking activity) and others.

  • You have to record Walk activities, not Hiking. That's a different discipline. However, you can change the activity type even now, retroactively and you will get the badge. Just be sure do it before the end of the month, before the challenges close.

  • Understood trux.

Goodness me Garmin, how pedantic. Hiking is walking! Why on earth would I record a walk? every step is a walk. Madness.

  • Haha, as you said Murrz, goodness me Garmin. They also think that mountain biking is not cycling. Batch for 40 km cycling not honored after 53 km on the MTB. The mindset of American developers employed by Garmin is one that we Europeans (fortunately) do not understand...

  • They also think that mountain biking is not cycling.

That's not true. I got most of my cycling badges from MTB rides. The 40 km badge including.

All types of biking counts for the cycling challenges as already mentioned by trux.

Post a link to the activity. Then we can probably tell you why it didn't work. You must join the challenge and record the activity with a Garmin device.
