Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Former Member
Former Member

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

Thank you for the continued discussion and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

06/19/2018: A new update has been posted here.

  • The activity is private, so can't see. But maybe distance was wrong? It should be 5k or a bit more, but less then 10k.

The distance was 3.62 so it was fall within the requirements.

  • I completed the Gamin September weekend 5k on September 12th and did not receive the badge. Why not?

Hard to tell, because you did not make the Acticvity visible for Everyone, so we cannot see it. There are several conditions:

    • you have to have explicitely joined the September Weekend 5k Challenge (on the Challeges page) before doing the run.
    • your run must be recorded by a Garmin device. Imported or manually enterred activities do not count
    • and of course, the date and the distance must match the conditons too, but I guess you know that
    • it must be a Running Activity

    Hi

I noticed I haven't been awarded with highly improving badge, which doesn't make sense since I get my heart rate up to zone 4 quite often. One example is my todays bicycle ride: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/5725368296 What do I have to do to get this badge?

    Thanks!

  • What do I have to do to get this badge?

You need a different watch than Instinct. You need a watch that measures VO₂max, and when you reach an Aerobic Training Effect of 4.0 for an activity, you'll get the badge. Instinct does not measure VO₂max or the Training Effect.

  • Hi, Indoor Cycle 1 hr badge not received.

Hard to tell in your case. On a quick glance I do not see anything wrong, but perhaps the other 10k badge you received for the same ride could be the reason. Some badges are not cummulative (you cannot receive them if you got another similar one for the same Activity), though I would not expect it at a date limited badge vs. a distance badge.

    1. Garmin Ride in 1 hour 2030 badge not awarded.
    2. Activity recorded as a ride on Zwift and uploaded to Garmin connect

You will have to wait 10 years more for that one Smiley

You have to record the ride by a Garmin device. Imported (most of them) or manually entered activities do not count
