All maps are Kansas City now

HELLO

I have a garmin 810, however today did a ride and its not uploaded the map either on strava or connect

any ideas what i can do?
  • No Map of my run. Just a map of Olathe Kansas

I also am having problems with my Garmin Forerunner 15. Instead of the usual map tracking my route in Ottawa today I get a map of Olathe Kansas - which happens to be Garmin's corporate headquarters by the way. Please fix this!
  • What's wrong with Olathe?

Why all the hate for Olathe, Kansas? It seems like a nice place. Why don't people want to run or bike there?

Seriously though, same problem here. All maps show Olathe or they don't show at all. All other Garmin Connect functions are sporadic and buggy.

I understand systems go down, but why have a dedicated Status website that incorrectly says all systems are go? Better not to have a status website at all than one that suggests the problem is at the user end (likely causing people to reinstall software, etc.).

Here's an idea: A Garmin Connect Status Status website. It would show the current status of the Garmin Connect Status website. Right now it would say that the Status website is incorrectly showing all green. Probably need a failsafe too - the Garmin Connect Status Status Status website. Wait, one more idea ...
  • Same here. In my GC, the map is centered on Olathe with no track shown.

Moreover, the rides embedded on my personal website display the "The data for this activity is no longer available." message.
  • There is an 'enable scrolling' button on the map (still of Olathe) which I do not remember having seen before. Was it already there or is this a sign that they are improving the map for use on touch screen devices?
  • Fixed for me

My map data is back for all my activities and all Garmin Connect functions seem to be operating normally in both Windows and Android.

  • Is it fixed?

Crossing my fingers, but I just logged in and everything seems to be working as it should. Thanks, Garmin!
  • I had the issue this morning but everything is fine now.
  • Why does web connect sends me to Kansas on any maps (distances, segments, heatmaps)? And even dosn't offer a button to go to my location.
  • Yes, it's really annoying and tiring to always look for your location by hand.

Here I made FAQ about Segment & HeatMap.

There is also information what you can do about default location.
For Courses / Heat Map - it's easy, create some course in your location and then use CoursesMap with Heat turned on.
For Segments Map - you need javascript bookmark.

Because Garmin is headquartered in Kansas.

While there's not a button to get me to my location, I can type it into the "Location" box and hit enter to be taken there.
