Moving Time Wrong Suddenly

The last 2 rides I have done (Yesterday & Today 4th July 2016) seem to be displaying differently in Garmin Connect and I don't know why.

For years now the Elapsed time is as it suggests and moving time just the time you were actually going along. So stopped at traffic lights or the café then moving time stops. The last two rides the moving time is the same as elapsed time and Time showing time in the saddle.

I know the auto pause is still working as it shows me every time I stop and start and my average speed is calculated properly.

I have Strava Connected so uploads to Strava are automatic and they appear correct on there.

Anyone else seeing this?

  • what´s TIME?

    Hi Guys,

I've made this question several times but so far no answer: What does the field TIME mean?
Bellow we have two activities made by me and a fellow together.
The setting difference I know for sure is that I use auto-pause (for battery save purpose) and he doesn't.

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1356348817 ,in here TIME and Elapsed Time have the same value, I guess because auto-pause is set to off
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1339040553 , in here Time and Elapsed Time are different being Elapsed Time equal to my buddy (which makes sense). Knowing that TIME and MOVING TIME are inverted at GC figures are correct too.
Than comes another problem! Avg Speed and Avg Moving Speed.
Because I have auto-pause ON, TIME and Elapsed Time are different and GC takes TIME instead of Elapsed time to calculate AVG Speed which returns a false number.

    GC shows :
    30,56 km
    Distance
    3:06:59
    Time
    4:31:22
    Moving Time
    6:18:27
    Elapsed Time
    9,8 kph
    Avg Speed
    6,8 kph
    Avg Moving Speed

    but should show:
    30,56 km
    Distance
    3:06:59 - wrong, should be 4:31:22
    Time
    4:31:22 - wrong, should be 3:06:59
    Moving Time
    6:18:27
    Elapsed Time
9,8 kph - wrong, should be ~4,85kph (30,56km/6:18:27) as it is on my buddy's activity.
    Avg Speed
6,8 kph - wrong, should be ~9,85kpa (30,56km/3:06:59) again as it is on my buddy´s activity.
    Avg Moving Speed

It seems this forum is not helpful in getting issues resolved. Disappointed in the Garmin product.

It's better than it used to be, if you can imagine that :D

  • Moving Time way LESS than Time

My last two rides have shown Moving Time as a lot less than Time even though my maximum stopped time was no more than 2 minutes. Today's ride had a 20 minute discrepancy even though the elevation seemed to track from start of ride. Means my average moving time speed is way out. Basically the first 15-20 minutes of my affected rides aren't registering me as moving on the speed graph. I take it that there is some sort of bug on the website ???
  • My moving speed is not pulling into Strava.  Only the average moving speed and they are very different. I do have auto pause on my 1030.  Please help
