This is crazy that this has been here for 3+ years and is an obvious easy area for improvement - as they have added all these different categories and I can't even tell it a default for mountain biking…
I find it hard to believe that something so simple to implement and so obviously useful to riders who, for example, want to set different default bikes for mountain biking vs. road biking, isn't implemented…
Has this ever been resolved? I would like to automatically add shoes for the treadmill and different shoes for running outside.
I use 3 (or more) different pairs of shoes for running. My trail shoes are grippy, stable, and can take some mud. My road running shoes are another and for treadmills, I just use the last pair of road shoes since treadmills seem to wear down the tread differently.
I have my Brooks shoes plugged in for running and it's assigning every type of run to them. Can running shoes be a little more specific to the type of terrain?
Nope, this is a complaint that has been going on for years. You get 1 default and if you use something else for a run you need to change the activity after Connect loads it.
Same for Bike, Walk, etc.... It's a PITA. Garmin just ignores how the Gear section is really being used....
This is a great ideas. The same applies to bikes. At the moment you can only assign 1 bike as a default for all cycling activities (Road, Mountain, Recreational). But I use a different bike for each of these activities and it would be nice to add them as default to the activity type.

Hi All. I just posted this on www.garmin.com/.../ :
Hi. I have a Garmin Edge 530. I have a road bike and a mountain bike. When I ride my road bike, I select the Road activity profile. When I ride my mountain bike I select the Mountain activity profile.
The problem is Garmin Connect does not differentiate between these two activity profiles. It only has a cycling activity, and you can only select one default bike. There is only one gear type for bike.
I would like to have a Road Cycling Activity and a separate Mountain Cycling Activity on Connect. They must also have separate Gear types for road bike and mountain bike. Then I can set my road bike as default gear on the Road Cycling Activity, and set my mountain bike as default gear on the Mountain Cycling Activity.
When I use my Garmin Edge and select the Road Activity Profile, it must link automatically to the Connect Web App with the correct bike, namely the Road bike, I setup in my Gear. eg Trek USPS.
When I use my Garmin Edge and select the Mountain Activity Profile, it must link automatically to the Connect Web App with the correct bike, namely the Mountain bike, I setup in my Gear. eg Silverback SX 29er.
Then it will automatically set the correct gear on Strava.
Currently I have to fix this manually every time. It is a real pain.
I see many people have been asking for this for more than 8 years now.

Thank you,
Hi Watchman;
thanks for the effort. But Garmin is not interessted in changing anything. As longs as the people keep on bying there devices, they will not change. I am not even sure, if the mailbox/form you used, is even checked. It seems to be a black hole.
Best regards,
Dainem

It might seem that way, but I've had a few requests become a feature over the years. While you get no personal feedback from the Share Ideas site, there is confirmation that they have received your idea. In the terms of use they state why they don't respond to every request.
Problem is....this topic was posted 7 years ago....it shouldn't have taken this long and however many requests that have been submitted via this and other duplicate posts to have this go ignored.
Just shows that Garmin does not care about this forum or its user base in improving its product.

This is primarily a user forum, not a portal to communicate with Garmin. If you have feature requests, the best is submitting them at Share Ideas | Garmin (I did it with this one too). Only frequently requested features have a chance to be implemented, and often indeed are. So we just need more people asking for it there, not here.
