All, if you see a Cross Country Skiing FTP without having any Cross Country Ski activities saved in your account, please reply with the following:
Has anyone else this problem?
For me it is a problem that Garmin reports results/status from an activity form that I have Never Ever performed while using my watch.
1. Estonia. but this is completely irrelevant.
2. hereby i give it for you, yes. but this is completely irrelevant.
3. i'm not bothering with it, because it's completely irrelevant.
4. iPhone 15…
I have the same issue. I want my running and cycling FTP stated and NOT a sport that I do not perform ie cross country skiing FTP. How do I change the sports. I got a Forerunner 955
I have a Forerunner 955 and I have the cross country skiing FTP. I only run and cycle and I want those two FTPs in there and not a sport that I do not practice. How do I chance the Sport, any ideas???? Cheers
This problem I believe is related to the hrm pro strap concept and the Cross Country (XC) Skiing Power Support that was released back in 2020. The problem is in the strap and how garmin are handling the data pulled from the strap.
It’s no different than any other power value on a Garmin watch, and in fact, unlike running power this actually gets put into the proper ‘power’ data field by Garmin, so any app that shows cycling power can show it, but the function in the strap FTP data aren't good enough to determine which type of activity the data FTP data are coming from. Like we already know the the Cross Country skiing are showing up wrongly, but that's not all, I am also some time getting cycling FTP after running, it's situation totally ridiculous and are something Garmin have to look into. I hope this information is helpful and that some of you garmin people in here can bring this to the right department.
To all having this problem, please write what strap you are using, if I am right it's a hrm pro/hrm pro plus strap!
I have never used an HRM Pro strap. I have only used an HRM Swim, HRM Tri and HRM Dual strap but also have the problem.
I find it extremely concerning that this issue has not been resolved more than a year after it has been acknowledged by Garmin. It reflects poorly on the diligence and competence of their IT team.
Interesting. The Cross Country (XC) Skiing Power are made supported by the hrm tri strap and more also. Garmin has to find a solution ASAP.
I have not tested it but according to this article only the HRM Pro supports it: support.garmin.com/.../
I've never used a strap. Only Epix Gen 2 and Fenix 7.
agreed; very disconcerting and embarrassing. this is a fitness product, not some samsung watch or apple watch that is fitness adjacent at best. this is purpose built system. and having FTP results for activities that you never did casts massive doubt on all of the metrics that garmin reports. why should i trust the VO2 max now? is there phantom data elsewhere in the system?
