Livetrack not working - LiveTrack Failed

Lately livetrack stop working... The setup in Garmin Connect Mobile is correct. When I start an activity on my Edge 1030 I do not get the message Livetrack started but I can see the title pictogram in showing on the screen, livetrack is active on GCM, but no SMS and/email are sent. I'am on IOS 12.1.2. Help is welcomed.
  • My live track hasn't worked for the last 3 weeks or so. Fails immediately. So frustrating. Every update has been installed. I have deleted and re-installed connect. I have deleted routes and activities from my 735Xt incase memory was a random issue. Livetrack has worked great for me for the last couple of years without incident. Now I can't get it to work. iPhone X, up to date IOS and Connect.
  • Wouldn't it be nice to have some sort of direct response from Garmin Support on this. We spend time trying to unravel the bugs whilst they watch on in silence! This isn't support.

    Whole heartily agree.

Surely it about time that GARMIN made a statement regarding this critical problem and give users some idea of when a fix will made available.

Same problem with my F3HR, I found if I open the Live Track screen and start a run Live Track works automatically and sends notifications. I get the Live Track started message, followed a few seconds later with a Live Track failed, but it does work.

I finally resolved the problem, at least it works on the first attempt as it was before the recent updates. In Garmin Connect go to More (right bottom) - Settings - App Authorization - Localization - turn on. After this change Live track worked as before.
My other settings in IOS for the app Connect : Access to position when used, On for contacts and for updates in background. These have never been changed.
    Hope it will be useful.

UPDATE: unfortunately this worked only for the first time then I had to manually start Livetrack.
    Where is Garmin support?!
  • After months of angst and disappointment I finally have mine working - update to 7.2 on 1030 didn't seem to help but I finally disallowed access to my contacts in the IOS system for the Connect app, my contacts for incident and livetrack are still as they were before but it auto started livetrack both with the app in foreground and amazingly fo the first time for months in background!! YMMV but it seems that the contact changes and some failures during the installation/changeover process may be the root of many of the complaints all over this forum.

I will try this instructions in next workout but I think It won't solve the problem for most of people... Seems to be some strange. Garmin Connect App has some several failures in the Livetrack and Emergency Contact modules.

    Regards!
  • I FIXED IT!!! After no Livetrack since the last update & trying tonnes of iPhone settings none which worked.
    Heres what did!!!
    1) In Connect App - go into Connections, click on Orange icon at top.
    2) SAY YES - to synching Contacts
    3) Go back & click on LiveTrack, make sure your current people/connections have synched.
    (Mine had automatically)
    4) I added my own work email in here to test also.
    THATS IT
It now works, like it used to!!!
  • I contacted GS and they acted as if the problem was new. They asked for some diagnostic reports. What a joke!
  • I too have had issues with LiveTrack for weeks, then I found this thread and decided to investigate.

I managed to fix the issue by:

    * re-enabling background updates on the iPhone Preferences (I don't remembering having disabled that in the past)
    * removing manually entered email addresses for LiveTrack and adding back as Contacts from the Connect preferences. For each contact I had to select which email address to use

I tried a test run and immediately the LiveTrack feature started as in the good old days.
So yes, something broke it but definitely it works.

I can confirm that on iPhone (ios 12.2) Preferences > General > Background App Refresh Disable and Re-Enable Connect works!!!
