Duplicate entries in Apple Health

I am on iOS 11 with the latest version of Garmin Connect. When looking in Apple Health I see lots of duplicate entries (same time and duration) from Garmin Connect in my activities. A quick Google shows people were having this issue back in 2015 but I've not seen any simple solution to stop it from happening and it is becoming more and more irritating.

I know Apple Health may not be the best application but I use it as a central repository.

Does anyone have a simple solution for this (other than buying an Apple Watch and using a Wahoo Tickr with the watch).

thanks

Alex

  • +1 for experiencing this issue. Doing some very detailed tracking of activity at the moment and this is a fatal flaw - this is my third Garmin wearable, love the things, but .... going to have to switch to something else to get accurate data.

  • This bug exists for a really long time now and is very annoying. I don’t understand why Garmin doesn’t fix this? What’s the use of this forum or are there no Garmin mods present?
Please repair this bug. IMHO quite easy to fix.

  • I am having the same issues as all of you... very frustrating. just to share, I ended up contacting customer support via email and they were very responsive. they asked for screenshots from my device (both from the connect app as well as the health app), tried to walk me through a couple fixes (to no effect) and then escalated my case. at this point they told me they were aware of the issue (I guess, how could they not have been?), but the interaction gave me some sort of hope that they actually knew about the problem, cared about the problem, and perhaps would devote resources to a fix at some point in the future. I am not giving up hope just yet... I love my watch and Garmin connect. I don't know if it would help if more people also reached out to support directly instead of just posting on the forum? I would guess that they log complaints by issue and use that to prioritize what bugs to fix? I know it's a pain in the ass (I probably spent an hour altogether) but couldn't hurt?

Yes, I would encourage that. Thanks for reporting this to Garmin and letting us know.

  • Hate to say it..  this isn't going to be fixed.  I spoke to a Garmin service technician for an hour.  They requested that I send them logs and screen shots, which I did and said it would be escalated.  How many people have they requested this of?   They are placating everyone.  If it hasn't been fixed in six years, it's not going to be.

When I spoke to Apple they played the blame game.  Short story from Apple support was.. We are bigger than Garmin and if they want to work with us to resolve it, they have to take the first move.  So, does that mean Garmin hasn't taken any steps in six years?

I've decided to go the Strava route.  Sync Connect with Strava and Strava with Health.  Done.

This is never going to be fixed.

Unbelievable. Six(!) years and they still can’t fix this simple (but oh, such an annoying) bug.

Thanks for providing a solution. Syncing with Strava and blocking Garmin fixed it.

I hope the data breach will be an awakening call to corp. Their software game is a joke. Things need to change there ASAP.

  • I truly didn't want or need another app (strava) especially not to do the same step that Connect does (incorrectly).  But if that's the solution, so be it.

  • For me too. Fed up of deleting all those double or triple entries in Apple Health.
Great workaround but very sad it’s necessary

  • This is not a workaround. this does not work for floors or calories.

  • Agreed.. it's not perfect, but it is more progress than Garmin has provided.

    What suggestion do you have?
