Duplicate entries in Apple Health

I am on iOS 11 with the latest version of Garmin Connect. When looking in Apple Health I see lots of duplicate entries (same time and duration) from Garmin Connect in my activities. A quick Google shows people were having this issue back in 2015 but I've not seen any simple solution to stop it from happening and it is becoming more and more irritating.

I know Apple Health may not be the best application but I use it as a central repository.

Does anyone have a simple solution for this (other than buying an Apple Watch and using a Wahoo Tickr with the watch).

  • Same here. Three months ago I reported the issue. Garmin Support said they are workig to fix it. They also said that workaround is to upload your activities from Garmin Connect to Strava then upload those activities from Strava to Apple Health. 

  • when I first noticed this it was mid-Feb and the dupes went back to ~ 11/20/20. I went through the trouble of deleting all the dupes in Apple Health and they started coming back after the first Garmin Connect synch. They dupe in AH every time GC synchs with your Garmin device. I checked today and now the dupes only go back to 1/28/21. Seems to be a trailing 30-35 days for me. 

    Also noticed an iOS update for Garmin Connect today. It didnt fix it. 

  • I complained to Garmin this week and this was the response (see attached) I have also complained almost 4 months ago about steps not syncing to Apple health and guess what they’re looking in to it.....

    We have added you into an open investigation which will be used to determine the cause of this issue which we are looking into currently. Using the information provided they will test and reach a suitable resolution which will then be supplied to you directly by email.

    We cannot provide a time frame for this process as it depends on what is discovered during the investigation and what is required to resolve the issue.

    Any updates will come to you directly via email as an affected user of this case.

  • I am having the same issue with duplicate entries. Very frustrating... please fix this garmin!!

  • To be candid, I can't image this is going to get fixed.  It's been a documented issue for five or more years, and at this point is simply a blame-game with Apple.

    I am trying the Strava fix.  I really didn't want another app in the middle of all this and don't want or need Strava for anything other fixing a problem Garmin should fix.

  • what I find interesting is that the problem has been around in this forum for years, but mine only just started in Nov (now only goes back to Jan). The Strava workaround doesnt cut it if you're trying to synch your other health stats from GC to Apple Health. I ended u deleting all dupes and disconnecting GC from AH. Will just use GC from now on or wait for an update.
