Duplicate entries in Apple Health

I am on iOS 11 with the latest version of Garmin Connect. When looking in Apple Health I see lots of duplicate entries (same time and duration) from Garmin Connect in my activities. A quick Google shows people were having this issue back in 2015 but I've not seen any simple solution to stop it from happening and it is becoming more and more irritating.

I know Apple Health may not be the best application but I use it as a central repository.

Does anyone have a simple solution for this (other than buying an Apple Watch and using a Wahoo Tickr with the watch).

thanks

Alex

  • It works for me with following settings in iPhone>>settings>>health>>data>>connect

    Allow:

    Heartrate

    Steps

    Training

    Disable the rest.

Hopefully it works for you as well.

  • I have the same problem and also my rides do not show in the badges challenges.

  • I am also seeing this issue as of February 2021.

  • As I said it works for me perfectly with these settings:

I’m  using an iPhone 12 Pro and a Fenix 5.

the problem started when I first used both devises at the same time to track activities. Maybe that’s a problem maybe it’s because of the settings.

i hope the pictured above will help you. Since I changed the settings I didn’t have any double entries so far.

  • So basically it works if you disable what doesn't work, which is the most interesting part.

Well, to me it doesn't work :)

  • I move had a garmin for years and never had this issue until recently.  I did upgrade from fenix 5s to 6s and maybe that is when it started but not sure why that would be the reason.  I need to use Apple health before it feeds another 3rd party app which is why I started noticing the 7 entries of my workouts!  Desperately need a fix!!!

  • Anyway you can translate the ones you have on to English / aside from trainings I can’t zoom in to get the word to have it translated on Google mysel

  • Good news: last Outdooractive update brought Apple Health integration. Not only it's correct from its first supported version, but also clicking on the training you get all the details, correctly linked to their category (for example: you can link from the training to the calories amount or walked length), plus it also show the full map right on Apple Health.

So yes, of course, any other developer other than Garmin knows how to do it properly and no, it's not Apple's fault when something gets duplicated or doesn't work.

  • As of Feb 2021, I see the dupes issue.

A user mentioned it might have started when using both AW and Fenix simaltaneously, which I have done quite a few times.  That said, it does look like it's limiting the number of days it is going back.

Another user mentions using a intermediary app called Outdooractive..  not sure if that is working or how it works.  Already tried HealthFit and also tried turning off the feed for a few items.  Neither were a success.  Any info that can be shared regarding Outdooractive would be appreciated.

Haven't called Garmin yet, though by the posts here I might be wasting my time.

  • Some additional information...

Another user suggested there is a way to differentiate between 'writing to' and 'writing from' as it pertains to exchange of information between AH & GCM, and that if settings are such that both are happening (AH is pulling data FROM Garmin while Garmin is simultaneously pushing data TO AH, resulting in dupes.

The suggestion was to limit the transfer so AH is pulling and Garmin is not pushing.  Make sense, but I don't see a way to do this.. only the choice to have two way sync on or off.

    Thoughts?
