Vivofit doesn't sync with Connect Mobile - Sync Upload Error - please try again later

Hi,

Since a few days now my vivofit refuses to sync with my phone (HTC One M8), the syncing starts, and soon after ends with the error message "Sync Upload Error. Please try again later".

Prior to this I didn't have any problem syncing, and then all of a suddent this started happening. The phone "sees" the vivofit fine that I can tell, I tried to logout and log back into Connect. No change.

Any idea about how to solve this issue?

Thanks!

The "server down" reason doesn't make much sense, especially for those of us only using the Android app.

    Diagram:
Vivosmart <-----------BT---------> Android APP <------------internet----------> Garmin Connect servers

If the servers are down, then why should that cause the BT transfer fail? The App should be able to still transfer the data from Vivosmart into the App, then hold it until it can finish uploading to the server using a "store & forward" technique. Haven't they ever heard of a QUEUE?

I dont think it quite works like that.

    Logically, more like:

    Diagram:
Vivosmart -----------BT---------> Android APP ------------internet----------> Garmin Connect servers -------------- internet-------------> Android APP ------------> "sync successful" and results updated on your phone and web. Any failure of any part between vivosmart(or my 920XT) and the "sync successful' results in unsuccessful.

Okay, so you can't look at your graph on the app without all the players being in place (internet & servers). I see what you're saying. The servers do all the calculations and return them to the app.

But I still don't understand why during this "server down" period that it completely lost hours of data from my Vivosmart - never to return (didn't the Vivosmart have them?). Many hour time periods show 0 steps and my daily totals are much lower than they should've been (and now my auto goal has been affected).

Anybody have an idea why? This seems like something was overlooked.

I can always upload to server but download fails every time.
Then it disconnects and never finishes pairing the phone to the vivofit.

    Using a Acer E700.

I have to use Express on my laptop to download any setting.
That to is full of errors also.

I would think Garmin can do a better job than this.
I have used their Nuvi GPS units for years with no problems.
They are all direct linked via USB cable.

Hi, I have the same problem. I just cannot synchronize my vivosmart via bluetooth. It already stopped working with software version 2.90. I installed version 3.00 but it still does not synchronize via bluetooth.

I sent 3 reports to the email mentioned on the first page of this thread, but no answer yet.

I have Android 5.01 installed on my Google Nexus 5.

In these weeks we had sometime general issues on the servers but today is working fine for me, then I suppose it's your problem. Perhaps it's better to re-pair your device and try again.

Did that. I even detached the device, emptied the cache on the phone, deleted the local data, re-paired my device. No luck. I just cannot upload the data via bluetooth.
  • There must be something going wrong as I use a Nexus 5 with 2.7.4 GCM and VVS software 3.0 and have zero problems. Would you be able to post one of your device sync audits? This is a log file that might help explain what is going wrong. You can find it here:

Menu>Settings (Gears)>About>'Device Sync Audit' (You'll probably need to e-mail yourself a copy and then copy/paste it here)

Also, please make sure that your device is being paired from within the mobile app and NOT through your Android Bluetooth settings. As a matter of fact if the device is listed as a 'paired device' within your Android Bluetooth settings it is paired incorrectly.
