No audio prompts

If the Garmin Connect app is not running in the foreground, audio prompts during an activity are not to be heard anymore.

Only with an open Connect app, audio prompts can be heard.

That's not how it should be. Nobody has the Connect app open and activated during an activity.

(Android Samsung S25 Ultra, Connect app v 5.17.1, connected to Forerunner 955, with Google TTS activated)

While it all is about audio prompts, that problem is new and was introduced with the GC 5.17.1. No audio prompts unless GC is running in the foreground (= phone screen on and displaying GC).

same issue here, using connect 5.17.1 and forerunner965.

Prompt only works when connect app is open in the foreground. Was working fine prior to the recent updates..

As you said, it’s frustrating. I'm a computer engineer and had developed some mobile apps for a previous company. We NEVER let such a bug on a value feature happened.

Same here. Used to work, then it was English only afer some prior GC app update, now no audio prompts after the latest update.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Garmin Connect 5.17.1.

Version 5.11.2 is the last version wher this is working properly.

The bug has already been reported to the development team.

I had the same problem with Forerunner 745 and Galaxy S22. It's a bug in Garmin Connect. I uninstalled 5.17.1 and rolled back to 5.16.2 via apk mirror site and the problem went away.

I've had the same problem and it's been logged with product support, it's happening on my 965.

There seems to be a lack of thorough testing, which only frustrates/annoys customers. Then we have to wait, with a very expensive device not working as it should.

As others have outlined, I to rolled back to a working version of Connect, to get the audio prompts back.

Hopefully it will be sorted asap.
