We are investigating reports that the Spotify CIQ App not working correctly and we are wanting your feedback. Please provide some details about what is occurring when you try to use or setup the Spotify Connect IQ App. Below are just a few questions we would like answered.

  • What is happening? (e.g. failing during setup, sync failure, playback failure, etc.)
  • What kind of phone are you using?
  • What kind of headphones are you using?
  • What Garmin Device do you have?
  • When was the last time Spotify worked correctly?
  • Does the problem only happen with a specific Audio File?
  • Are you using Public WiFi? (Using a Wi-Fi Device on a Captive Portal)
  • What software version is on your Device?
  • Do you have a vivoactive 4 (Hero Series or Saga Series) device?
  • Not syncing with iPhone 12 on Bluetooth or same network. iPhone software 14.4.2. iPhone 12 max.

  • What worked for me was when to create a 2.4ghz hotspot on my Windows PC (connected to the internet via an ethernet cable to the router), and connect the watch to PC hotspot wifi network. The sync then worked flawlessly (and very quickly).

Creating a 2.4ghz exclusive hotspot and connecting my watch to that wifi network fixed my Spotify sync errors.

    • Sync stays at 0% forever
    • iPhone 11
    • Jaybird X4
    • 645 music
    • No
    • Home secure wifi
    • 7.0 (3a4852c)
    • No
  • This is very very very disappointing. I specifically decided to spend more and buy the "music" version. And the only function that I specifically paid extra for is not working. AND has not been fixed for a long time. Very disappointed in Garmin as a brand and company for ignoring this issue for so long.

    - Shows start of sync for a moment, stays at 0% and says sync failed.

    - Samsung Galaxy Buds

    - Garmin Forerunner 245 music

    - not applicable. Related to app not music files..

    - Have tried all kinds of Wi-Fis. Public, private, hotspots form various devices. Nothing works.

  • Hi, it really is a terible situation for such a world wide brand.

There was a post from someone a couple of months ago, who got a fix by creating a hotspot from his PC, look back a couple of posts on this thread.

I too had struggled and tried everythinhg. However, creating a hotspot from my laptop, for the watch to connect to, instead of trying to connect direct to my wireless home network or mibile network, actually worked!

The laptop was connected to the my home WiFi, wirelessly. (the other user recomended connecting by cable but I don't have a cable)

I made sure the watch was plugged in to the power supply, I read that it needs full power to sync, and close to the laptop (distance probabaly made no difference, lol).

Give it a go. Why from a laptop / PC should the connection work when technically you are using the smae network I don't know but i'd be interested to find out if it worked for you too?

Even if it does, i don't see why as consumers we should be having to find work arounds ourselves for something which this huge corporation should have resolved by now!

    Good luck

  • Why is this problem still ongoing over 12 months later? Surely it can't be that difficult for the tech team to sort out.

  • Garmin I want paying for this ........!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not that tech savvy and wouldn't really know where to start, it's a disgrace that people like yourselves are having to resort to finding fixes and work arounds when Garmin should have sorted this months ago. It's really made me think about buying a Garmin in future as I'm not sure they are up to the job. There's plenty of other brands out there now and very competitive too so I may look into it as this is just not good enough or acceptable.

  • FR 245M user here.

Watch starts to sync spotify and gets stuck at 0% and then after a while loads up as sync failure. Using a iPhone SE Gen 2 with my FR245M. Worked fine on my faulty FR245M ( dead pixel issues and thus have a new replacement watch). I'm using my home wifi and nothing seems to work. Reinstalled spotify, reset the whole watch itself, repaired watch but nothing seems to be working. My iPhone is at iOS 14.6. Restarted both the watch and phone to try and troubleshoot but now it doesn't even say sync failed, just flicks back to the playlist screen after a bit..

  • Spotify syncs over Wifi so the app and phone are irrelevant. The watches can't connect over 5 GHz networks. Make sure you are connected to a 2.4 GHz network. Some wifi access points got different names for the different networks.

A test you could do is to turn off the 5 GHz network in the access point and see if Spotify syncs after that.

Another test could be the one that someone suggested in this thread. Create a hotspot on your phone and sync over that. Make sure it is a 2.4 GHz network.
