Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.
  • I decided to start testing old GCM versions to see if any allow me to have my Garmin Devices always connected, even if i go a little away from my phone.

At this moment i'm trying the 4.8 version
  • First brifieng after starting to test old versions of GCM.
At this momment i continue to use the 4.8 Version. It have a stable bluetooth connection (doesn't break the connection all the time), even if i go little far away from my phone just for a few momment (but i'm using the Reconnect Garmin app, as usual)
The only downside that i see, is if i'm far away from the phone maybe for 30min, the connection is not made automatically.

This is by far the most stable version (even with the bug that i mencion early) that i have tested so far...

This isn't working for me. I am utilizing a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact that was as of late refreshed to Android Nougat 7.0. I've never attempted this Bluetooth Update, on the grounds that there was no reason since all notices and usefulness were working fine. Since refreshing my telephone to Nougat, I've had issues with warnings not touching base on my drifters manga Vivoactive HR, so I attempted this refresh to settle the issue. I can long-push on the Vivoactive HR gadget posting in Garmin Connect and pick Update Connection. This makes the telephone raise a Bluetooth blending brief, requesting a PIN, however, the Vivoactive HR doesn't change by any stretch of the imagination, including demonstrating to me a PIN.

I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but this bluetooth problems are must of them related with Android Nougat 7.0. I have it too, and since them, my GCM never worked 100% well. Like i said, at this momment i'm using the 4.8 version that seems to me the most stable version.

I have the Garmin S60 and have terrible issues with Bluetooth connectivity .If I lose the connection, the only way to reconnect is to restart my phone . I am using an LG G6 with the latest OS . Garmin support has not been able to solve my issue and says my problem is isolated. I have several devices paired to my phone and they all connect seamlessly so leads me to believe that it is a Garmin problem. They offered a reconditioned watch as a replacement but I declined as this is my second watch as it is.
So is it just me or anyone else having the same problem.

No, it's not only you. I have a Forerunner 235 ( this is the second one, because the first one has died, and garmin replaced with a brand new one), and in both of them i have the same issue. I have other bluetooth devices paired that work very well.
For me or it is a GCM problem or devices firmware.
  • Today I have upgraded my GCM to the latest version because I want to try with the new beta firmware of the Forerunner 235. After inatallainst of GCM 4.12.3, the Bluetooth connection was horrible. Then I downgrade the GCM to 4.8, but continue with the beta firmawar and the Bluetooth connection at this moment is very stable.
For me this is a proof that the problem resides in the Garmin connect Mobile.
Pleasy Garmin, fix this... If you need someone to test the beta versions on Garmin Connect Mobile, ask for it... I think that many people would help.

Hello Garmin people, since yesterday I have really furstraring issue. I have Xiaomi mi A1 and yesterday I updated to 9.0 android pie. Since then the Bluetooth connection is really bad and keeps diaconecting all the time on Fenix 5 WiFi. In the past I had stable connection for 20 mettres and now it keeps disconnecting even if I move for 2 meters. Sometimes it reconnects but it is really unstable. I tried almost everything I know. Removed the device from Garmin Connect, unpaired device, cleared Bluetooth cache plus data, hard reset of the phone and still it keeps disconnecting which was not the case one day ago. If I pair my Bluetooth speaker I have absolutely no issue even if I go in the near room and I have walls and doors between me and the phone. I don't know how it is possible this in Android pie. Any ideas how I can bring back my stable Bluetooth connection ?

I had the really same issue with my Fenix 5 sapphire after upgrading to Android Pie on my Xiaomi yesterday.
But I was able to fix it following the informations given in this thread :
    https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/garmin-connect-mobile-application/garmin-connect-mobile-android/1389025-android-pie-problem

The problem doesn't comes from GCM, but the way we have to pair the device and the phone under Android 9.
It seems that we have to pair it with the phone, before going into GCM app.
