No text Smart Notifications

switched to Messages app, WORKS

went thought a huge remove , reset , add back... process with online-chat... didn't help

but we did end up trying the default Samsung 'Messages' app - in that case it WORKED! Then switched back to Verz 'Message+' (red icon) ...then it didn't work, just '1'

So for now I'm going to stick with the basic 'Messages' app (yellow envelope icon).


Anyone getting '1' with the default "Messages" yellow icon App????? Or getting proper notifications from the "Message+" red icon App?

Just tap on the "1 Message" and it will be shown correctly.

If you have a 235 and the watch is locked there's no way to tap or select the 1. Before the latest update the full text message was displayed instead of the number 1. I'm really hoping they make it work like that again.

No, it doesn't. What is the expected consequence to the company if it does not “fix this NOW”? Is that going to negatively affect its Christmas sales revenue significantly? I don't suppose so. Does it put the company at legal or regulatory risk? I think not. So where's the purported need?

Garmin doesn't need to do anything - that's clear - they don't need to test firmware, they don't need to correct issues with software, they don't need to strive for customer satisfaction, they don't need to strive for good word of mouth or product review, they don't need to advertise or have a social media presence.

However all of those things are generally considered good business practices and common sense. Going against many of those things is going to create topics like this (and push at least some people to Suunto, Polar, Wahoo, Strava, MMR, Apple, Samsung for their activity tracking).... and of which you don't NEED to respond.

Ah, interesting -- I am using Message+ which I have nicely customized (and don't feel like switching away from). Never used the yellow one.

And, thanks to the other post for the heads up of hitting start/stop when the "1" comes up. The watch sits there and thinks for what feels like seconds before displaying the text in its own little window.

I'm still really frustrated that this started happening out of nowhere (I'm guessing after an update to Message+ ?). I'm assuming the answer/fix should be pretty simple but what do I know.

Just to keep the issue alive:

If I receive an sms, it gets displayed correctly as a popup.
If I receive a news alert (BBC News, Der Spiegel) this pops up correctly.
If I receive an email (Outlook for Android) I get the sender's name and my email address displayed, unless I press the start/stop button to go into the notification.
If I receive a WhatsApp message, I get the sender's name and the text "1 message". If I get any additional messages from that same sender, these are displayed correctly (as a popup) until I clear the notification on either the phone or the Fenix3. Then it goes back to Sender, 1 message.

Is this the end of the world? No.
Is it annoying? Yes.

Any chance of a fix please?

I just received my vivoactive last night and it vibrates and says "new message," but won't show the actual message. All smart notifications are turned on, but I can't seem to figure it out. So, it's probably a software issue? Interesting...
