No text Smart Notifications

Hi,
since the update today I don´t get proper smart notifications on my Fenix 3. Before the update it gave me a preview of the message, now it just says the senders name and "1 new message" (in german "1 neue Nachricht")
How to fix this?

Another issue: After every update the inactivity alarm gets re-enabled...
  • I just received my vivoactive last night and it vibrates and says "new message," but won't show the actual message. All smart notifications are turned on, but I can't seem to figure it out. So, it's probably a software issue? Interesting...

That is exactly what this whole thread is about...
The second message will be displayed correctly. Du to the fact, you own a VA, just tap on the "1 new Message"-Message, and you can ready it completely.

Nope, doesn't work. I can push the back button or the big "X" at the bottom, but can't read the message. I can tap on the "new message" all I want and it never leaves that screen. I receive Facebook messages without issue, though. It might have something to do with my default messaging app, but since it seems widespread with different devices, probably not. I hope it gets fixed soon!

Then you have a different Vivoactive, then mine.
I just tap on the Message (not on the X) and it is shown with it´s text.

Same problem for Fenix 3 here, Whatsapp, Android 6.
As a workaround I use the following trick:
    1. get a message from someone but don't open it, keep it unread from now on:)
    2. every further message will be ok
Strange enough, the second message manages to push up.
I'm not sure the issue is with Fenix 3 though..

Still having the issue. Works with standard messaging app, but not Message ++ or Textra. Works for my phone. Is there a way to go back a a previous version of connect? My wife's still works, so I don't think we are on the same version, but I'm waiting on her answer.
  • Bump so it doesn't just go away...

Clearly, everyone else on the thread does, too. Darn the luck! 🙄

    To keep it alive:

    Android 7.0
    Forerunner 235

I've used an old version of the app. But unfortunately this app does not work properly on Android 7.0.
So i had to update. If someone needs the old APK, v3.11.1 worked with Android 6.0 .

As the second message seems to be shown, it should not be such a big problem to fix that :-/
  • This issue is not just going to go away - particularly with the excitement of the Fenix 5 announcement, I'd very much like this to be resolved before I take the plunge and get another device where this issue is still present.

The number of non-Fenix users who are also reporting the same issue points to a Connect Mobile issue rather than a device firmware issue.
  • This seems to be related more to specific apps and how their notifications are formatted rather than anything else. My email notifications used to display the first few lines of the email, now they just display the sender and the destination email address (unless opened).
WhatsApp messages show the sender's name and "1 new message". Subsequent messages are shown correctly.

I would accept that this was outside of Garmin's control if it were not for the fact that everything *used* to work as it should.
SMS messages display correctly, Facebook messenger displays correctly, Amazon app notifications display correctly, BBC and Spiegel News notifications display correctly.

There is something in the format of the email and the first (but not subsequent) WhatsApp notifications that GCM Android does not like.
