Garmin Express hangs on opening MacBook

I can't get Garmin Express to open and register my Edge 800. It works on my wife's Mac Book Air but not on my MacBook Pro. I have upgraded to El Capitan. Removed all previous G Exp folders and tried reinstalling using both Safari and Firefox. After downloading G Exp I click on the teardrop icon and then a rectanglar icon opens but just hangs on the screen. I have 25 gb of disc space and 2gb of ram. Patience is wearing thin. Please help.
  • stupid image verification is expressly annoying

I looks bad for Garmin that this board is moderated in this way.
Express hangs for me and cannot be reinstalled. Garmin software is terribly buggy and I have so few other problems with other software. Can't believe i have so much money invested in products made by such a company.

Thank you. This worked for me. Had to go into Activity Monitor and kill the legacy thread for Garmin Express. Id say thats your bug anyway tho

I think I have solved the problem

Two hours without freezing of Garmin Express that is very excepetionnal since several monthes !!!.
The removal of com.microsoft.ApplicationInsights in the Cache folder is insufficient, you have also to remove the folder named com.microsoft.ApplicationInsights in the Application Support folder. It will re-appear when you restart Garmin Express but it should no more freeze. It looks like something wrong was written in the sub-folder named regularPrio.

    Hope this will help you,

  • I second that.

…you have … to remove the folder named com.microsoft.ApplicationInsights in the Application Support folder. It will re-appear when you restart Garmin Express but it should no more freeze…

    Worked for me. Thank you.

Garmin Express frozen on opening banner

I installed Garmin Express after recent update to OS X El Capitan. When I opened the app, it froze on the banner screen. I did a full uninstall, and downloaded the app again. Still the same problem. The old version of ExpressFit used to work fine, until the OS update. Any ideas?
  • Follow the instructions to do a complete uninstall if you have not already done so. It works fine my my Macbook Pro and iMac so likely something corrupt in files that you need to remove manually

Hi, I've uninstalled Garmin Express and re installed. Still no joy. It says it has synced but nothing is uploaded and then it says not responding. Any help gratefully received. On MacBook Pro.
  • Have you tried deleting the folder as posted above?

    See post 45.
