Drive Smart 76 Not Recognized by Garmin Express using Windows 7. Why?

I have a Garmin Drive Smart 76 that Garmin Express will not recognize ( using Windows 7). Windows 7 gives the error 'USB Device Not Recognized' yet I can still update the maps when I am online and I select the 'Settings' icon on the Drive Smart screen. What could be the problem with Garmin Express???

There is evidence over at POI on Windows 7 that seems to indicate that some people are having success.

Just received an email reply from Garmin.com. They sent me this link.

But Windows 7 'sees' the Garmin Drive Smart 76. The problem seems to be with 'Garmin Express'...

Of course it's with "Garmin Express"! As Garmin has stated they NO LONGER support W7 and don't expect them to be fixing Express.

The latest versions of GE are not compatible with the older operating systems yet Garmin still has this link posted on their website under 'System Requirements':..

For users running Windows 8 or older, please download version 7 of Garmin Express for Windows.

Is there anybody here who actually has Garmin Express running on Windows 7? I am wanting to know before I waste any more time trying to resolve an issue that might not be fixable, And many thanks to those who have replied so far. Your help has been most sincerely appreciated...

TY JohnfromPA for that link. So now we know that GE version 7.17.3 does indeed work on Win 7. And that's the version that the Garmin website tells us to use on Win 7. But this one has got me beat.

I have installed the correct GE version according to Garmin.com. I have updated Windows 7 and have downloaded the Garmin USB Drivers Updates (see attached). I understand that there are GE incompatibility issues with all Windows Operating Systems. I feel like we're trying to solve problems that not even Garmin has yet sorted out...
