Garmin Express Fatally Flawed

Updated to Garmin Express 6.18.0.0. Now, GE cannot see my Oregon 700 (it does see the Forerunner 645). Shows up in My Computer. Did all the troubleshooting (uninstalled and then clean install of GE, run as Administrator, use main USB ports on tower computer, etc.). Have opened ticket with human being on phone (although I never got email confirmation). That's two hours of my life I will never get back.

My advice -- do not update from 6.17 (which was working fine) to 6.18. (Windows 7 Pro, Dell i7 tower).

Weird, working fine with all my six devices. Did you try deleting it then readding it to Express?

Is one of your 6 devices an Oregon 700? The new GE works with my Forerunner 645, but not the Oregon.

Yes -- it was the first thing I did. Then did about 6 other things. None worked.

Then call Garmin Product Support, maybe there is an issue with the Oregon.

It definitely does work with my Oregon 750t, although it does not seem to sync - at least not to Connect. See my posts here:

I found out that the same happens to my trusty Edge 705 that I otherwise never had any problem with.

I have an open case with Support already and they investigate

Garmin Express sucks. Period. Garmin phone support, worse. Current hold time 21-25 minutes. Sixth try. Chat, unavailable. Come on Garmin. 21KB download speeds. Fix it!

If you are reading this for how does something work. It doesn't and Garmin just doesn't seem to care. Been using them for years in aviation and it works good.

Marine, not so much.

If you're getting those speeds something is wrong in your system somewhere, my downloads are way way faster, a full EU map update takes about 30 minutes

I've turned off virus protection, reinstalled GE, used a new 32GB card, and have been on with Garmin help finally. they say they have not heard of the problem. i told him to go to this, and many other pages complaining about it. My system is 200MB download speed/12MB upload and all other programs work perfect. Only Garmin Express after upgrading to 6.18.

maybe the EU system is better, but we sure can't figure out how to make it work here.

That's odd...I called and was answered quite quickly. Staff ran me through a few troubleshooting efforts and found that it had to be the latest update. A trouble ticket was immediately sent in to the Garmin engineers. Quite the opposite experience to what you have so eloquently described.
