The end is nigh for Basecamp Mac users

I opened Basecamp for Mac in my Macbook Air M1, and MacOS 26.4.1 pops up a warning that Basecamp will soon no longer function, with a link to this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102527?cid=mc-ols-rosetta-article_102527-macos_finder-52526201

Had the same and yes, with MacOS 27, Intel bases apps are no longer supported. Please Garmin, update the app to Apple Silicon!!!

I checked some garmin apps on my mac. Not only basecamp but also garmin express, garmin mapmanager etc are intel. So garmin has some work to do, otherwise we cannot use their expensive devices anymore…

I too lament the future loss of Basecamp for Mac. I hear nothing from Garmin about updating Basecamp to a Universal Silicon compatible app. I use it extensively with my still very capable Garmin GPSMap 62s…

Too bad. Really liked basecamp once getting to know it. Makes the GPS units obsolete also. I can't see any surplus in eg Garmin Drivesmart GPS when you can't create routes. For point-to-point one uses Google, Maps or Waze, no GPS unit.

Is there still hope that Garmin will support Basecamp on Macs even though Garmin has dismantled the Basecamp team? I'm not holding my breath. To be clear, I am of the understanding that Rosetta will be available on Mac OS27, but will be absent in Mac OS28.

You can use any mapping program to send a gpx file to your DriveSmart or indeed any GPS.
