I opened Basecamp for Mac in my Macbook Air M1, and MacOS 26.4.1 pops up a warning that Basecamp will soon no longer function, with a link to this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102527?cid=mc-ols-rosetta-article_102527-macos_finder-52526201

Had the same and yes, with MacOS 27, Intel bases apps are no longer supported. Please Garmin, update the app to Apple Silicon!!!
I checked some garmin apps on my mac. Not only basecamp but also garmin express, garmin mapmanager etc are intel. So garmin has some work to do, otherwise we cannot use their expensive devices anymore…

Basecamp works fine on my silicon M1

Yes it does - till MacOS 27 this autumn - then it will not work anymore.
This is my opinion. Express is based on Xcode 15 (Sequoia) so Garmin may have just been waiting until it has to do the port. The last few versions of Xcode had fewer deprecated functions making porting to ARM easier. As for Basecamp, it’s based on Xcode 14 (Sonoma) so it may just get replaced by a new app based on Tread since it was written on Xcode 26 (Tahoe) and has some Basecamp’s features. Maybe we’ll hear more after WWDC in June.
I too lament the future loss of Basecamp for Mac. I hear nothing from Garmin about updating Basecamp to a Universal Silicon compatible app. I use it extensively with my still very capable Garmin GPSMap 62s unit. Yes, I realise it's old but works perfectly well in the field and is a good adjunct to Basecamp. I apologise that I have no solution other than do not upgrade to Mac OS 27, the release that will drop the Rosetta translation layer that allows Basecamp to run. I'm currently running Mac OS 26.5 on a 14" M2 MacBook Pro. Are there any good Universal alternatives to Basecamp? I have a lot of routes and work-related material in Basecamp.
Rosetta is dropped in MacOS 28, it will still be present in MacOS 27.
Thanks JaVaWa for the replay and the correction to my typo. What I should have said in my post is not to upgrade to Mac OS 28 if one wishes to continue using Basecamp. I'm currently running Mac OS 27.5. I won't be upgrading to Mac OS 28, and perhaps wait and see what happens to Basecamp. I saw somewhere that Garmin has dismantled the Basecamp development team so I suspect it is a discontinued product. With that in mind, I will continue my search for a reasonable desktop-based alternative. If anyone finds one, a post on the Garmin Forums would be immensely useful.
27 isn’t out yet, you are using 26. 27 will be launched in september this year, 28 probably a year later.
