export issue

Hi I tried to export a video to a file (1080) and then to youtube using the export feature. Once it reached 100%, I got a similar error message in both cases:
- During export to file:
"There was an error exporting the video"

- During export to youtube:
"Error exporting video for youtube upload"

An idea on how to solve this?

Tks

I am very sorry to hear about your troubles. I believe the guys on the VIRB firmware team are working on an update that will hopefully fix the freezes.

I've found that when I upload a movie from VIRB to YouTube I can't set the resolution.
When I uploaded the movie and went to Export I found out the resolution was at 480p.
    The original resolution was 720p.
On YouTube the highest resolution the movie can be watched at is 480p.
When I first export the movie at 720p and upload it from my webbrowser I can get it to play at 720p.
So how can I set upload to 720p (or anything else but 480p)?

For YouTube we normally pick the lowest resolution of the input videos. So if you combine a 1080 and a 480 clip, we will export and upload at 480. If all you have is 1080 clips, we will export and upload at 1080.

Are you sure all your original clips are 720p?

Yes, it's the only thing a RoadHawk Ride can do, record video 1080x720 30fps in .MOV format.
I'll use Any Video Converter (AVC) to convert it to .MP4 keeping the original size.
I'll have another upload to do so I'll have another try.

    Hi Garmin.
Something is terribly wrong with the export.
I just bought VIRB Elite and recorder a 30 min video in Tall HD mode.
Import worked fine, I've got 3 video files. I am using Virb Edit 2.2.3.0 on Windows 8.1 64 bits. Camera firmware version 2.80.
    1)
When I try to export with overlays I have an error "There was an error exporting the video" immediately at 0% and a small file 108 bytes long is created instead of a resulting video.
When I looked in the binary file I can see strings embeeded in binary data:
    ftypmp42
    mp41isom
    (6.3.9600.16384 (winblue_rtm.130821-1623)

(don't know if it's a helpful information for you).

    2) When I disable overlays there is no errors but the export process exits immediately and no resulting file is created at all.

This is useless. I am disappointed and I do not understand why there is no good error reporting in the application so developers must guess what is an error.

I apologize for the trouble. We believe we have a fix for the Windows 8.1 export issues. It should be out soon (version 2.2.5).

We are working on better error reporting as well, that might not be in place before 2.3 or 2.4.

    Found the problem.
I combine the 5min clips of the RoadHawk to one complete movie in PowerDirectorPro.
Here the setting was 480p :o
    So that's a problem solved.

OK, when will the version 2.2.5 be released?

Soon I hope. I pushed it out to the installer and QA guys. If all goes well, it should be available within a week.

Glad to hear you found out what was going on. Maybe we should allow the user to pick the resolution for YouTube as well.

Maybe an option to do both, export the video (to a user defined location instead of a temp file) and upload it to youtube.
