export issue

Hi I tried to export a video to a file (1080) and then to youtube using the export feature. Once it reached 100%, I got a similar error message in both cases:
- During export to file:
"There was an error exporting the video"

- During export to youtube:
"Error exporting video for youtube upload"

An idea on how to solve this?

Tks

This is hard to say without seeing the actual files.

What kind of project is it? Are you adding several clips into one video? Using slow-motion / speed-up? Adding music? Using overlays?

VIRB Edit 2.2 should ship in November and I'd like you to try that one and see if it fixes things.

I apologize for not being able to assist you better.

    I can confirm the issue.

The original video was a .MP4 of 2GB, trimmed on the left and trimmed on the right.
The resulting video would be 3min 14sec long.
I've tried a different location and a different resolution. It makes no difference.

I will try to test it with a smaller video that doesn't need trimming.

    Just tried the following.
    Imported a .MP4 clip of 3min (148MB).
Made a new video and added the clip.
    Didn't trim anything.
Clicked on youtube and got logged in ok.
Clicked on "Upload" and imidiately the publish error appears.
Changing "My Video" and entering a description makes no difference.
I also couldn't export the video to Harddisk.

EDIT: can't export anything at all!!
Also tried it with a file that was made with VIRB!

    Today, a cold boot.
Nothing changed no export no upload.
    Something new:
When I clicked on export VIRBEdit disappeared from my screen, Crash!
I noticed that none of the resolutions was selected when this happened.
Did a windows uninstall of VIRBEdit, ran TweakNow Regcleaner 2011, did a warm reboot.
Checked for debry in the register, lots of things left, like locations of setting file and some setting (see Canon Album)
    Re-installed VIRB-Edit 2.1.1
When I started the program it came up with the last video I edited and the last clip I imported.
The problems were still there: no export, no upload, none of the resolution selected.
Next step manual cleaning of the registry!

    Video to previous post: http://youtu.be/rGBYUmRjNdw

    Uninstalled VIRB-Edit.
Cleaned the registry as far as I dared.
    Cold reboot.
    Reinstalled VIRB-Edit 2.1.1
Started VIRB-Edit, skipped the intro, no video's , nothing in the library, OK!
    Imported .MP4, OK
    Created new "My Video", OK
Moved the clip into the video, OK
tried to export, no resolution was given, selected 1080, ERROR
back to editing the video, OK
    Upload to YouTube, OK
    Login YouTube, OK
After login the "Publish" error comes directly.

Thanks for the detailed steps. We are investigating.

    In the mean-time, check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMM59pzjyjQ. That's a VIRB Edit 2.2 export.

    made a little progress.
    uninstalled 2.1.1
    cleaned the registry with TweakNow.
    Removed VIRB directories in Users\Appdata
    Removed programs(86)\Garmin\VIRB
    Installed 2.0
    Started 2.0
Tried to load the clip, VIRB imported the clip but didn't showed it in the library.
Imported other video (made with VIRBEdit), OK
    Exported, OK
    Uploaded, OK
Investigated video: was .MOV, converted to .MP4 with AnyVideoConverter 5.09
Video size was changed from 1280x720 to 320x240 (I didn't paid attention while converting).
    Maybe this causes the problem.
I will convert the original again to 1280x720 in .MP4 see what happens.

Well, we are mostly concerned with MP4s that come straight from a VIRB.

    did some more detectivework.
    It seems codec related.
Converting the video with AVC with mpeg4 codec makes VIRB-Edit fail.
Converting the video with AVC with x264 codec works, both export and upload.
Also converting with x264 codec to 320x240 makes VIRB-Edit fail on both (2.0 even fails to put it in library)
It could also be the framerate.
    AVC x264.MPG =>
    AVC mpeg4.MP4 =>

BTW Nice video, liked the guages, was it taken with the VIRB?
Got a bit dizzy due to the movement of the camera being fixed on the bike.
The rider needs a shave :D
The quality seems about the same as my RoadHawk Ride.
I'm planning on going to see the VIRB "live" on saturday at WayPoint (shop in Moordrecht NL).
The channel I'm using for public-upload on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo3vjFjrk13q3xOGEc9j8MA

That makes perfect sense. I don't think we support all the codecs. VIRB Edit should work with VIRB videos, with others it's a bit of a gamble.

Yes, the video was taken with VIRB. I noticed the dizziness as well, I am sure that could have been mounted better.
