export issue

Hi I tried to export a video to a file (1080) and then to youtube using the export feature. Once it reached 100%, I got a similar error message in both cases:
- During export to file:
"There was an error exporting the video"

- During export to youtube:
"Error exporting video for youtube upload"

An idea on how to solve this?

Tks

    installed 2.1.1 over 2.0
It started where I left 2.0, with 1 clip and 1 video that I could export and upload.
2.1.1 doesn't want to export nor upload those files.
Also file made with PowerDirectoPro 11.0 doesn't work.
I will try a cold boot, and report about what happens (or not).

EDIT: did a cold boot and nothing changed.
Can't remember if the only succesfull exports were with 2.0 or 2.1.1
    Hopefully 2.2 will change things.
It's only logical your main concern is with supporting the VIRB.

    export issue

I'm having the same problem with the exporting in Virb Edit. I tried putting together 4 clips from a night ride last night that I recorded with a Virb Elite and keep getting the "there was an error exporting the video". I tried only combining 2 clips to shorten it and instantly got the same message. I started having this issue after downloading version 2.2. At one point it got to 99% and then the error message appeared again. Any help would be appreciated because I'm trying to use the videos to show at my bike shop to customers. I recorded in 720p if that matters.

We are investigating the export issue, and hope to have a fix soon.

That makes perfect sense. I don't think we support all the codecs. VIRB Edit should work with VIRB videos.

    Well, it doesn't.
I would really appreciate it, if the software would support the codec the Virb uses. I will return my camera anyways, because according to another forum the camera has to be defect, the videos are blurry as fu**.

I recorded 4 videos a few hours ago. The videos are blurry again and i can't even edit/export the recorded videos, i simply can't do sh**. I sold my GoPro3 so i can afford the new camera and to be totally honest, i was never so disappointed by a product.

So please, at least fix the export issues before new features get implemented. Because only my camera seems to record blurry videos, i hope a can get a new one, because other videos on youtube seem to e okay.

    Edit:
I tried to figure out, what causes the error, so i started messing around with the files. The string is displayed because either theMp4success or the theTrackSuccess variable is false, but i can't get any further information.

When i use reflector and try to debug the executable, Visual Studio shows the following information when i click the "Export" button:

Eine Ausnahme (erste Chance) des Typs "System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException" ist in MediaFoundationNET.dll aufgetreten.
Eine Ausnahme (erste Chance) des Typs "clr.FatalNativeException_t" ist in MediaFoundationNET.dll aufgetreten.
Eine Ausnahme (erste Chance) des Typs "clr.FatalNativeException_t" ist in mscorlib.dll aufgetreten.
Eine Ausnahme (erste Chance) des Typs "clr.FatalNativeException_t" ist in mscorlib.dll aufgetreten.

So i think it's something media related and the "theMp4Success" variable is set to false.

If i didn't know better, i'd say it's "public unsafe void RunEditor(ManagedExportPackage_t aPackage)" where the exception is thrown.
  • OK now

I upgrade to the latest VIRB edit version and the export works now. There are still a few things, for instance sometimes when I want to edit the GPS position to improve the video overlay, the red dot which displays the position on the map disappears as soon as I click on the "adjust" buttons ("|>" and "\<").... I cannot therefore not edit the position. Are you aware of this? At least there is a good 2-way communication on this post with Garmin.
  • I too am unable to export any video to local disk or youtube via Virb edit regardless of number or clips, length or resolution.

I have checked the Windows App log and it did not log any errors.
Is there a way to enable debug logging?

I have tried this from two Windows 7 hosts that have different Windows 7 images and get the generic failed to export image error shown in the previous image on this thread.
One host was upgraded from 2.1 and the other was a clean install of 2.2.

    Steps taken to successfully export
Uninstalled 2.2 and reinstalled 2.1 and I now get the same export error :(
    Uninstalled 2.1
    Deleted the virb directory's
    Reinstalled 2.1
Virb edit still remembers all the clips even though the location was deleted so it appears the un-installation process is not very thorough
Deleted the old clips from the Virb Edit Software
Imported the clips from the Virb
Attempted to export a single 2:13min clip that failed previously and it worked.

There seems to be a problem with exporting NON-VIRB clips.
In 2.0 it works (remember to adjust the decimal settings if nessesery decimal devider to "." and group devider to "," otherwise importing .GPX won't work).
    2.1.1 and 2.2.0.0 won't export NON-VIRB clips.
Hopefully this wil be solved in 2.2.2.

There also seems to be problems with VIRB clips in 60fps, on export they seemed to be converted to 30fps.

I've had some crashes when importing files. These NON-VIRB.MP4's have a NON-VIRB aspect-ratio and/or low resolution.
  • same error when exporting or uploading

I'm getting the same error while trying to export or upload videos. My videos are all created with the Virb and I'm using software version 2.2.2.0.
I'm using the 3 videos that the Virb created during my recording and I trimmed and split them several times to reduce the time from around an hour down to about 13 minutes.
Is there a fix or a workaround to this issue yet?
The camera is pretty much useless without the ability to edit and upload the videos we shoot.

We are working on a fix for the export issues. 2.2.3 should be released in the next few weeks.

Other than trying a different machine there is no good work-around. PCs with a dedicated graphics card should work better.

    I apologize for the trouble.

    Tested and same problem here.
It seems that the two tracks are combined than fitted to each clip.
So each clip starts at the beginning of the first track and end on the end of the last track.
The speed of the overlayed track is played depends on the length of the clip.
The displayed speed seems more or less what it should be.

Going back to the editing mode, something strange.
At first the combined track is shown over the video.
After clicking the separate clips, the first is showing the last track, the last showing the first.
The map (on the right) is showing the correct track.
On changing overlay, the combined track is shown again.
Than on clicking the clips, the overlay is showing the wrong track again, the track on the map is correct.

Seems the track-overlay needs some work.
