Film Testing Aug - Sep 2025

Hi all

its been a while, I hope you are all enjoying the summer & have got some great real world cycling in!

There is a new feature being added to the TacxApps that should be something much larger then the sum of its parts. In any case for now on our side you will notice oddly named stages with some very short ones often only a few kilometers long or less.  Please test these if you can! I expect someone from Tacx will, at some point, explain what's going on when the time is right to test.

We have filmed some stunning new locations: the rugged west coast of Ireland, the rolling Morvan hills, a revamped Alpine Tour with a refilmed Colle delle Finestre (on both gravel sides!), the picturesque Barolo vineyards in Italy, and a two-part ride through the Luberon in southern Provence. The ride library is absolutely stacked again! Some of these routes will have multiple stages and cover serious distance, so there’s plenty to explore.

To kick things off, I’m publishing a mix of regular stage-based rides, some of which will let you test the new feature once it’s live. You’ll spot these in the app—they’ll have a “J” in the version number. So, keep an eye out

  • Is this just the Windows version of the software or will the features be implemented in the Apple version too?

  • To say the truth, I've no idea, I guess all options, I think I would have remembered if they had said it would only be for PC.. But I've not had any email replies to my feedback this last week, where I've done some long days/nights adding all the new data to the latest batch of rides (22 of them are now in your menu inside TacxApps). Maybe they pulled the feature haha?  It's a very complex project on my side, but I've enjoyed doing something a bit different after all these years .

If we do another set of rides (we have another 4 filmed over this year), it will be a lot simpler; the key really is to be very focused about organising everything at the early stages.

  • Can't try new features. I need to update the app first. Trying to fix update issue.

I don't think they released the new features yet. I'm reasonably sure they would probably say something if they had done so.

  • v2 46a_Kamloops1 (Canada)

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. BT. Morning's weight is 63,7 kg. Average power - 2.21 W/kg.

    All film is very good.

But. For 7.06 & 10.15 & 12.77 & 14.39 (descent) kilometers there is a road feeling, but there is no change feeling on a grid.
A fawn on the road (31.06 km)!

  • v4 Morvan 1

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. BT. Morning's weight is 64 kg. Average power - 2.25 W/kg.

    Everything looks very good.
But on the last 3 kilometers (maybe earlier) the average gradient was shown as 0.9%, although it should have been more than 5%.

I cant add the grids as we have gravel there & for some reason we can only go from tarmac to grid, unsure why that is but thats the way its been since the start of Road feeling, unless they fixed it in secret

  • As it's now - that's also good

It's good you're starting the test this collection. The new feature is still being developed I think...its tough to know. Garmin Connect's mapping tools are a bit retro, and obviously the Tacx World map is a no-go zone, so I've had to use one of the third-party apps to attempt to visualise what we filmed last Autumn.

https://ridewithgps.com/collections/3696575  it might help you navigate just where you are. The plan is to return this next 'Fall' and film any roads we missed that might open it all up more & also increase the size of the Heat map to explore. But I had hoped that we would have been able to test this thing over the summer...which is almost over.

I'm just now visiting family in Gascony (whilst doing quite a lot of cycling to avoid the mother-in-law ;-) ) , so my replies might be a bit delayed.

  • Thanks for the map! When each part of the road is separate - it's hard to put together a complete picture in my head)
    Good weather and good roads!
