Film Testing Aug - Sep 2025

Hi all

its been a while, I hope you are all enjoying the summer & have got some great real world cycling in!

There is a new feature being added to the TacxApps that should be something much larger then the sum of its parts. In any case for now on our side you will notice oddly named stages with some very short ones often only a few kilometers long or less.  Please test these if you can! I expect someone from Tacx will, at some point, explain what's going on when the time is right to test.

We have filmed some stunning new locations: the rugged west coast of Ireland, the rolling Morvan hills, a revamped Alpine Tour with a refilmed Colle delle Finestre (on both gravel sides!), the picturesque Barolo vineyards in Italy, and a two-part ride through the Luberon in southern Provence. The ride library is absolutely stacked again! Some of these routes will have multiple stages and cover serious distance, so there’s plenty to explore.

To kick things off, I’m publishing a mix of regular stage-based rides, some of which will let you test the new feature once it’s live. You’ll spot these in the app—they’ll have a “J” in the version number. So, keep an eye out

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. BT. Morning's weight is 64,7 kg. Average power - 2.02 W/kg.

It's hot and rainy outside today. And the film starts with fog. Then blue sky and green trees appear. Beautiful!

I've been wanting Phil to go to Hawaii for take lots of beautiful videos. Including Mauna Kea.

The road often goes up and down. I don't really like that, but today it's fine.

Km 3.85 from start - it seems that the descent should start earlier.
Km 6.93 - visually looks like up and down. But the gradient on the screen is different.

Km 10.63 - it seems that the descent should start earlier by 20 m.

  • Great to hear that the library is stacked for the new season! Very much looking forward to it!!!!!
Curiously excited about those short stages you've mentioned.

The first kilometers were a joyful experience. A nice test to see if the trainer could accurately keep up to the changing gradiences and it did!
I enjoyed the views too, great sightings, cool road. Great to see some different weather compared to those sunny movies.

At around 15,75km troubles started. At this point resistance suddenly increased and my Alpine moved like it was going to a 10% incline for a few seconds - for no apparent reason, the roads looked flat. After this it felt like the trainer was following a totally different course compared to what was shown on screen until the last 5km at which the setup more or less resumed the course shown on screen. It was not a "latency" issue.
At times the Neo3 and Alpine changed gradients to a climb while going downhill. For example starting the last descend my resistance increase and my Alpine move up from somewhat neutral position to like +5%ish. Very awkward! (Bluetooth connected. No popups with losing connection whatsoever)
I doubt this issue is related to this video.
I did upgrade to latest Beta App version before starting my ride.
I did NOT upgrade my 3M firmware before this ride. Afterwards I noticed the available upgrade went from System 9.26.00 to 10.03.00 which seems a giant jump?

Everything was great. I have no comments. But sometimes I didn't look at the monitor.

All good here too. Nice course with plenty of sheep in the beginning :)
