For sure, I bet the majority of the riders that ride Coll de Rates never see this view though (this is the top of the extra climb thats hidden above Rates called…

  • Settings 100% & 100%.

Norse Tour 1-3 - good roads.
    Pragel Pass, Glarus - amazing video. Super HDR! Kilometers 19.3 & 19.6 & 20.35 & 23.59 & 25.56 - no road feeling from the cow grate.

  • Cycled Cezanne 2.  Nice ride.  No issues with the video. Nice to see other cyclist out

There is a steep short bit on the ride (the steepest bit at circa 15km I think).  My Tacx Neo2T slipped on that bit.  First time I have seen that.

Well done for cycling into the sun

That will be the Neo rather then the ride unless Ive accidentally added the 'ice' effect for road feeling somewhere :-), always try to film into the sun if I can, cinema cameras can handle it & I personally love a more artistic feel to the ride. With a ride thats a big loop with good weather there will be some sun somewhere ;-)

Good for the Norse Tour, will check out the grates, it might be they are just too short to bother with, if the time on the grid is too short it will not trigger the effect, or might come on & then just remain on (not good haha)

  • Yes they are very short, especially at high speed.

  • Cezanne 1 & 2. Beautiful road. In the second part it was interesting to ride against the sun.
At the end of the first part there is a strong decrease in the gradient after stopping. Everything else was great!

  • Cezanne 1 & 2: has your camera's focal length gotten shorter?

We skip between two different focal lengths with the two different cameras, Cezanne was filmed a few years ago when everything was a short focal length (wider angle), its the same camera & lens used for last years Mallorca, Alpine Classic & the Team films, Norway etc.  We are now using a more narrow lens with the newer camera...last year 2023 I switched between the two as I could not quite decide which I liked the most. With the recent upgrade we made to the new camera Im completely happy now with the new one.. It's so incredibly smooth & personally, I don't like it if the lens is too wide; I like the hills & distant mountains to look huge & more realistic. The angle we use now feels much more like natural vision. There are down & upsides to going wide angle. Another downside is wide angle means much more movement if the film, this intraduces more compression artifacts..but the upside is more feeling of speed..Going narrow reverses this so we have a smoother feeling climbs as everything moves a bit slower each frame, its all sharper but might seem a bit slow on the flat.

  • I too don't like wide angle. There is strong distortion at the edges.

The main reason for the wide angle was it acts as an extra stabilizer for the image; any micro-vibrations are mostly too small to see after the films have been compressed. With the new camera I don't have this issue anymore, I can even zoom right in & its smooth as butter :-)
