  • Today I rode v1 039 Lake Pukaki. Everything was fine. But at high speeds close to 26 km/h and above, there was no feeling of gravel under the wheels. I could feel the gravel on the climbs. That is how it should be?

I have an old Tacx Neo s/n 6343.

The film is beautiful. There is not enough sun. But so is the weather outside. Hoopers Inlet reflected the blue sky beautifully.

  • I noticed the name currently is "Garmin Triathlon de Paris". Does this mean it's ready for production? or is further testing still required?
I'd like to prioritize my rides on the ones which still require more/the most testing/feedback.
Does v1/2/3/4 etc in the name mean that those movies require further testing/tweaking?

  • En la carretera si vas más rápido la gravilla se nota menos, supongo que virtualmente debe ser así.

  • Speed(power output)grades and gears even chain wear can all affect the gravel feel.It occasionally just goes on its own sliding scale from 0 to 100%.

  • Today Lake Mountain (Australia).
There are many places where the camera is tilted.

10.7 km after the start, the ascent visually continues, but the program shows the descent.

  • Cycled 'Garmin Triathlon de Paris' yesterday evening and it was an enjoyable experience! I'd rate it 3½ out of 5 stars.
I really liked that you can do a city trip-style ride without the traffic and lights and therefore almost no video cuts. I think I noticed only one cut.

Lots to see, no boring roads :) The moto escort is a nice detail. I caught myself waving the moto off when I got boxed in :D
I best enjoyed the section were you switch from cobbles in the center to a small section of paved road on the left. The road feel was cool there. Also nice to see other riders in the later part of the ride.

I'd love to see more films of closed of circuits shortly before the real races. I think there were some of the Giro a few years ago?

I averaged about 35 KM/H and the road feeling at this speed was good. Switching between paved and cobble sections was quick enough. Maybe I did not notice the real small roadfeel sections, not sure if I missed any to be honest.
The only possible improvements I noticed:
    - Around 11 or 12km there is a small video cut. If I remember correctly there were a few cobbles. I would have expected a bit of roadfeel there.
    - Around 32/33 km (in the cool tunnel) the video does not look great. The bitrate seems on the low side, but maybe it has to do with filming limitations? (I downloaded the 1080p movie and did not stream)

  • Today Lake Mountain (Australia).

Good catch, sadly they have already removed the v numbers, but the ride has been updated just now.

For the camera angles, It looks like they have some drifting after the tight corners but it seems to center its self eventually. I think its a issue cause by the higher torque hitting the camera's stabilisation due to where/how its mounted. Good feedback

  • noticed the name currently is "Garmin Triathlon de Paris". Does this mean it's ready for production? or is further testing still required?

Yes for sure, its the number one priority just now, its had a lot of fixes & now should have a logo in the bottom left

  • Yesterday I continued cycling NZ. Oh my, that country is beautiful.
I picked Taylor Redwood Pass because of it's proper length (48.8 km) and profile.

I wanted to focus my training in Z2 but also have the chance to push some power going uphill and have some fun. The profile of this ride looked like a good match. First section is a nice easy uphill which goes straight into a easy climb with 2km of some steeper sections. The long valley slopes down help to maintain Z2. The film finishes with another small climb and descent. Looking purely at the profile it might be slightly less exciting compared to some others but it fitted my training well. Overall I'd rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Again another NZ film with stunning views. High quality video and only a few cuts. Roadfeel overall was good. Resistance going uphill/downhill felt natural. I did notice that roadfeel was missing when passing over 4 bridges. But adding roadfeel here might be overdoing it.

    Possible improvements:
    - The first 100-200m into the first ascent feels like descending but numbers say +4%
    - Roadfeel during the steeper section of the first climb felt too rough for me. This is probably because of the lower speed. It would be nice if roadfeel could be more subtle here.

  • Thanks for this Peter, v3 adds a grade fix (it's hopefully the first rise just after the small bridge & the start of the hill)

For the gravel effect, I only have one global setting so it's probably related to the speed your going,  I think you can adjust this feeling on the fly generally inside all the apps via the cogwheel icon or dragging up the settings on the new apps so it may be worth dialing that effect down a bit when climbing.
