Garmin Vivosmart 4 problems with Connected GPS

After the firmware my Garmin VS4 has connected GPS. Very happy but very soon I found that I have only few GPS completed workouts. Most of the time I have only short segment from my routes. It is not my phone GPS because other software gave me complete routes (started at the same time with my VS4).

Anybody with the same problem? Any solutions?

  • If the VS4 is stuck in finding connected GPS, then you just have to take your phone and open the Connect App. One the App is open, VS4 really quick finds the GPS and also keeps getting the signal.

Of course you have to disable battery management for Garmin Connect App since Android has a pretty aggressive mode in standby.

I always have complete GPS Courses, it's working pretty good, even with the actual Garmin Connect App and a Huawei phone, which are known to have a really heavily aggressive app management.

This did not work for me -,even opening the app it just said it was sending GPS to the VS4. I have rolled back to a previous version now which works OK. Opening the app should in any case not be a required step IMHO.

Same problem here: (moto G4) phone has GPS coordinates and good reception. The watch however states: "waiting for GPS".

Same here. Starting the app after initializing the watch: The watch keeps waiting for the GPS info from the phone (motoG4) although the phone clearly has GPS info as can be seen by other apps. We've given the app access to all required info.

    Running Android 8.1.0

Having the same problem since a recent device update. Impossible to link to GPS despite phone GPS working fine, and despite GPS working fine last year and earlier this year. arggg...

I'm glad to see this response. I've un-paired then re-paired mine and played around within the app.

I even started looking at devices from different companies to get that feature.

Here's hoping it's fixed soon Fingers crossed

This would be a reason to return the watch. It's still in warranty and it doesn't do what it should. Seeing it worked before it cannot to be to difficult to give an update which is working.

This seems to have been fixed in the latest release (4.33) - have installed and it works fine for me - hope it does for everybody.
