White Spot on Vivoactive3 Screen

Hi there, I suddenly have a white 'dead spot' on my watch screen. Nothing happened per say and I want to know what other peoples experiences were with having it repaired. Were you charged out of warranty?

  • I reported mine via the online chat.  Be ready to give your serial number of the watch

  • did they ask you to return the damaged one?

  • Yes, at the time I did it they had no stock which meant I had to wait over 5 weeks to get a refurbished replacement

  • I have the exact same problem in the exact same spot.

At the 20 second mark. It seems to be a fundamental design flaw with these devices. I expect Garmin to fix this free of charge as my watch is about two years old.

I was sitting in my office, carefully keeping track of time for a meeting, then the next moment there was a spot, it has grown about 10% larger in the ensuing days and seems to stay this size.

Hello! Have you been able to contact your local Garmin support? Are you in the US or Canada?

  • I got the same white spot after paddling about in a children's pool. Only just out of warranty. The watch went dead soon after. I would never purchase a Garmin watch again.

  • I woke up to discover the white spot also at around the 20 second mark. No damage and I do not swim or shower with mine. I followed advice from  who sent a very useful response and some earlier advice to use the windows software to initiate the email contact to log with Garmin as (understandably) they are on holidays. I'm hoping this gets resolved amicably as this was meant to be a long term, outdoorsy purchase and breaking whilst sleeping inside on my bed in less than 2 years doesn't cut it lol. Holding thumbs and will revert with my experience

  • Same here but 10times the size

  • As mentioned, contact Garmin Support - https://support.garmin.com

  • UPDATE: Garmin got in touch & asked me to courier the watch to them. They fixed it promptly at no charge and couriered it back to me. Very impressed with their service & they went the extra mile in my opinion. It is without a doubt a design flaw which means it will probably happen again. Very happy with Garmin's service.

However - Heart Rate Monitor is a little erratic when exercising. Never had this happen before. I'm going to just roll with it but here is my question.

Should I be considering another Garmin? I am nervous of another design flaw in a different Garmin model. This Vivoactive was meant to be my last watch purchase & after 2 years I'm seriously considering replacement. Design flaw means its likely hood of reoccurring is high.

My Uses: Daily Training, Treadmill, hiking etc.

I am considering the Venu 2 - provided no more design flaw!. Definitely prefer a touch screen & my pocket is not deep enough to afford the fancier top end with touch screens.

Is there a different Garmin Model I should be considering or look at another brand? I do give Garmin full credit for their really good service. However my next smartwatch needs to be a real keeper.
