Turn off Bluetooth and wifi completely vivoactive 3 music???

Hi folks,

I have tried fitbit devices ( my wife has charge 3) but i absolutely hate the idea of keeping radiation emiting device always strapped on to my body all the time. So i went for vivomove HR that had an option of turning Bluetooth off and immediately liked its functionality so much that I ended up upgrading to vivoactive 3 HR within 5 weeks.

I loved the device and mostly kept Bluetooth and wifi off ( connectivity> phone and connectivity> wireless on off and only used to turn them on to periodically.

however yesterday I accidentally made a discovery that i could play songs through BT headphones even when Bluetooth connectivity was turned off. Alarmed with this Discovery and with wifi connectivity off, when I clicked on sync ( in connectivity) the device could get synced with my phone through wifi without asking me to turn on either Bluetooth or wifi..

I called up Garmin helpdesk and they confirmed that  for almost all Garmin watches Wifi and Bluetooth is always ON????? irrespective of whether we have kept it off or on...?? they mentioned that its by design and there is no workaround..

Has any other Garmin vivoactive 3 music user faced the same issue??

hI kindaate the idea of carrying a EMF emittor always strapped to my body without a simple option to turn it off.. any thoughts guys???

  • Thanks for doing that. The confusion started when I called up Garmin support to confirm that and they said there is no way to turn BT off in VA3 music

So I made a big mistake about this model. I dont think you can disable bluetooth. I meant to say the Garmin Vivosmart 4. The vivosmart 4 bluetooth can be disabled and there's no wireless.

    I am terribly sorry.

I'm not concerned about a potential battery failure. I'm not concerned about possible irritation from rubber. I am concerned about 24/7 radiation on a single part of my body. There is also a HUGE difference between the strength of EMF emitted from the electronics of the watch vs the broadcast of radiation through BT. Your comment has little value.

This is a misunderstanding about how the technology works. For the headphones to connect at all, it must communicate via bluetooth, so to say that you can turn bluetooth off and still connect BT headphones means the BT doesn't truly turn off, it only stops syncing.
