Garmin coach workouts reset problem & does not included daily stats (calories, steps and intensity minutes)

During garmin coach workout runs, I am experiencing a device reset or bug, at the very end of the run. What happens is that: Device stops playing music, reset screen comes, and a few seconds later device opens itself, still showing activity but paused. I manually continue activity pressing the button, then finish activity. However, the stats of activity is not counted correctly: It is shown in activity information on garmin connect or last run screen, however it is not correctly included in daily steps, daily calories, weekly intensity minutes. Today, only approximately half of it is counted for daily and weekly stats. Also, I am pretty sure device has enough battery (I started fully charged, run 30 minutes, and after reset happens it has still %70 battery, no reason to stop music player.)

Is there anyone experiencing the same issue?

Today I received a reply from Garmin:
"Our engineers are working to solve the problem."

the same answer for 4 months
maybe they are building a spaceship

garmin ignores VA3 owners, they already have VA4

I have a new FR 945, using coach Amy and half marathon. Benchmark Run was fine, recorded fine and logged fine under the My Day and Garmin Coach tabs. Completed the first long run on the watch, worked great, recorded under the My Day tab, including steps, but nothing under Garmin Coach Tab. Now, both the app and my watch are telling me I didn’t complete the long run (even though the run is still logged in the Garmin Connect app), and adjusted the training schedule one day to the right. Even imported most recent software updates on mobile app and watch.

I don't think they are trying to ignore the owners, but more so that this bug only appears in one coach's training plan. Some people don't use the training plans either. Garmin has bigger bugs to worry about. It's frustrating, but I really like the training plan Amy does. I swapped from a different coach's training plan, which had worked fine on the watch. One of the main reasons I got the Vivoactive 3 music was the coaches feature.

  • It's not just one Coach though, people have had problems with Greg too.

And the problem is still persistently continuing, what a pity. I'm performing a 10k training plan with coach Greg.

I have an issue where my watch is recording that day's planned activity and even gives it the name like in the plan "easy run" but it does not show as completed in the training plan.  The activity syncs to Connect and records steps, distance, etc but plan still show it not completed.  If I check the wodget on my watch it shows a check mark as completed and all the stats.  Have a ticket open with engineering but no solution as of yet.  I also have Coach Greg for 5k time goal.  Super frustrating as it is not helping with data input and adjustment on my plan.

There was an update to Garmin Express today and it seems to have fixed the issue!

  • It is not a problem with Garmin Express, it is a problem with the software on the watch. I didn't use Garmin express and I have the same issue like the thread opener.

    So I conducted some experiements.

    1. GPS off: no issues, stats updates when synced with Connect, no restarting during workout

    2. GPS on, have phone with me during workout: restarts with 30 metres left in workout, stats updated when synced with Connect as I am assuming syncing is occurring whilst conducting the workout. Not sure if all stats or some of the stats

    3. GPS on, leave phone at home: restarts with 30 metres left in workout, nil stats updated when synced with Connect, other than I have completed the workout

My conclusion is GPS has a bug so it is now off for me as it serves no purpose other than tell me where I have been during my workout.
