Vivoactive 3 disconnects and reconnects to phone every 10 min

I'm on firmware 5.90 and last GPS and sensor versions but my vivoactive 3 disconnects and reconnects to the phone every 10 minutes. I tried to pair again but it didn't help. Any clue?

Hi, I am facing the same issue on my OnePlus 5T ; which phone have yo got ?
  • My phone is a Samsung S7, I haven't faced this issue previously. I'm not sure when it started exactly but I think with 5.80 update.
  • Have you uninstalled/reinstalled the Garmin app? Also try a restart on the phone before the reinstall.

I haven't. But I don't think it can be the culprit. It should be related to bluetooth connection itself that it's supposed to be there even without connect app.
  • It's been a successful procedure in the past. Suit yourself.

Just tried unistalling and reinstalling the app but it didn't help... Either it's Connect app or firmware. Very annoying.
  • My Vivoactive 3 Music started acting up in the same way a few months ago. I have Smart Unlock enabled on my Pixel 2XL, tied to my V3M, and noticed that it was going in and out of being connected OFTEN. I tried to work with tech support but they went for the hail mary and threw their hands up. I did the whole uninstall/install the app, same for the watch paring. I have a number of items paired to my phone, but rarely are two ever connected at any one time. I scoured the web and chat rooms and tried half a dozen tricks...nothing changed the connection dropping. Tech wanted me to get rid of all the paired devices and start re-adding to see if anything paired interfered. I declined...tech is just supposed to work, and it had been working until recently. I eventually gave up and went back to my Fitbit, which has no issues staying connected, no matter how many items I have paired. Sorry, I wish I had better news, but tech was unable to get my watch working, and getting rid of something else I use just to use the watch defeats the purpose of tech working together...how some can play nice together but others can't is beyond me. IF you are able to find a solution that does work, I would be all ears. Best of luck!
  • Does it stay connected if phone is on charger?
  • I have some probleme also since 5.9. I have try the option of : unpaired, remove GC from phone, reset watch, then redo install/pairing and so on...
work most of the time. but from time to time link is lost and I need to restart phone and/or watch to restore !

I recently threw in the towel as well when my Fenix 5 simply refused to pair with my new iphone XS. I tried every trick in the book about 50x, I even bought a new Vivoactive 3 out of desperation but the exact same result so I returned it. I hate to say it but I bought an Apple Watch to test and it's been awesome; I use a Polar bluetooth HR strap paired to the watch/phone, and Polar's Beat app that syncs to the Polar Flow cloud platform, also awesome. I also am a longtime user of SportTracks so it now syncs automatically to Polar where previously it synced to GC. Not real loss in functionality for me plus the Apple watch does some really cool stuff (but has to be recharged daily which is a pain). I only use the watch for fitness so I get close to a week out of a charge anyway.

I still/and will continue to/ use Garmin bike computers and accessories, which work great (520, radar, headlight) but unlike the Garmin watches the 520 binds directly to the phone's native bluetooth stack so it just works. I have no clue why the watches employ different connectivity that is so problematic but it seems it's starting to cost them some customers.

    Cheers
