FW Update 2.70

I just connected to Express and didn't even realize FW 2.70 downloaded. According to the list, there are several things to test out. I just hope this isn't like the initial release of the FR 235 where one thing was fixed, but the updated crashed something else.

Update: I can now add and change test responses. My Garmin speed & cadence sensors still won't sync unless I pedal my bike and hold the watch inches away from the sensors, so no help there. The other fixes listed I didn't have a problem with or wasn't aware there were issues. So, it appears 2.70 allows me to change text messages and that's about it for me.

Since yesterday's 2.70 update, I am getting random short vibrations every 30 minutes or so that aren't connected to notifications, alarms or timers.

    That might be this, https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/health-fitness/vivoactive-3-aa/1276914-random-vibrating
Try switching it off in both watch and phone app and see if it stops the random vibrating?
  • Today i tested pairing with cadande and speed censor both worked fine at the first time. I mean i started bike activity and start riding and it took 15 seconds to connect both. I think garmin fixed it.
  • 2nd day in a row, 2nd day on 2.70, lost connection to the footpod ~10 minutes into a treadmill activity. I had no such issues with 2.60. VA3 on 2.60 was far slower than the FR230 to find the footpod, but it never lost it.

Both times my FR230 (on my other wrist) maintained footpod readings.

Cadence, pace, and heart rate freeze to their previous numbers until I exited the Treadmill activity and rejoined.

This level of bug is disappointing.

Can produce .fit files if anyone from Garmin cares to look, but this is darn near the straw to break the camel's back.
  • With the new number editor, how do you enter weight if it is a body weight excercise? It won't accept 000 as a weight.

When the screen switches to the weight entry screen after entering/editing the number of reps you can just swipe right twice to get back to the "Rest" screen and the weight value will stay at zero and then be reported as "body weight" in GC if a body weight exercise is selected for that set.

What I don't like is that, as far as I can tell, there's no way accept the detected rep count and just move on to adding the weight.Edit:
  • The screen is not locked anymore during a run activity after FW 2.70 update.
Settings->System ->Auto Lock is set to Always

Same problem for me, heart rate, cadence and pace all locked up after a few minutes of treadmill run. Also yesterday on a treadmill run using the workout feature each time the watch buzzed to tell me of a change in workout all the sensors dropped out momentarily and took a minute or so to catch back up with real time, the watch also lost connection with the phone at the same time. Two days two different problems, will see what tomorrow brings.

Happened to me last night. 3rd day in a row. This time after ~2 minutes. I have not had a proper treadmill recording since 2.70.

  • I'm not sure if 2.70 is to blame, but I've been missing a couple of iOS notifications in recent days, and I don't recall ever having that before the latest update. This includes one missed call with the phone easily in bluetooth range. I restarted the VA3 and the iPhone, hope this issue doesn't return.

Saw the same thing too on a text last night that went to my phone and didn't make it to my VA3. First time I've ever seen this. I also noticed my notifications changed to "calls only" during an activity after the update so I had to change this back on the watch. Changing it on Garmin Connect doesn't sync back to the VA3. I disabled notifications and re-enabled it so not sure if this is the solution. Will open a ticket with Garmin if i see this again.
  • Ever since 2.60 I have to completely restart my VA3 EVERY time I unplug it from my computer for even charging. 2.70 did not fix this. Also, since 2.7 it completely refuses to pair to my Windows Phone anymore. But I have to sync through the computer because it can never actually sync my bike rides or updates through Bluetooth.

I have my backlight setting set to "gesture only during activity". But when I start an activity (specifically, Bike Indoor), it does not work on the activity screen. Yet when I swipe to the clock screen (during the activity) the backlight works. Swiping left to the activity screen and it still does not activate. Hope Garmin fixes this...
