FW Update 2.70

I just connected to Express and didn't even realize FW 2.70 downloaded. According to the list, there are several things to test out. I just hope this isn't like the initial release of the FR 235 where one thing was fixed, but the updated crashed something else.

Update: I can now add and change test responses. My Garmin speed & cadence sensors still won't sync unless I pedal my bike and hold the watch inches away from the sensors, so no help there. The other fixes listed I didn't have a problem with or wasn't aware there were issues. So, it appears 2.70 allows me to change text messages and that's about it for me.
  • I tried the GPS being turned on for indoor activities, and that seems to be fixed!

Hmm? My watch updated to 2.70 through Garmin Express. My VA3 restarted and Express shows me on 2.70. I'm connected to Garmin Connect Mobile and something is downloading extremely slowly. Garmin Connect on my laptop is telling me 2.70 is available? I think it's downloading twice. I'm not sure what's going on, but I think I may need to do a hard reset after the GCM download and check things again.

I think you need to wake the sensors up to connect (green light on the sensor needs to flash) by moving the wheel/riding the bike. Mine now automatically connects after I do that with new 2.70 software in the activity. (It does take like 10-15 seconds). I also don't need to be close to the sensor. The main test will be if the sensor stays connected during the activity; Which I'll test after the snow melts here.

I already said I was pedaling my bike while holding the watch near the sensors. Different sensors and different problems. Mine have no lights and once they have paired I don't lose the connection. They still connect fine to my FR235, but the VA3 still has problems.

It appears 2.70 downloaded again through GCM even though it downloaded with Garmin Express. Anyway, I can still add or change text msg responses, but connecting to my Garmin speed and cadence sensors is still an issue. I have to pedal my bike with the watch near the sensors to get them to sync. Disappointing!

How long does this update take through Garmin Express? I connected my VA3 through Express and it's been on sync for 30 mins and it seems to be stuck around the 3/4 mark. Can I disconnect and retry??

Disconnecting could result in a corrupt file. It took me 2 hrs

i did not time mine, but it was definitely nowhere near 2hrs or even 30mins.
i suggest updating the garmin express software too if u havent already done so...its on v5.8 now.

I ended shutting down express restarting my PC and the VA3 then reconnected and the update installed within a min.

No it shouldn't and Garmin Express is on v5.8. But what I said in this thread was I connected through Garmin Express and 2.70 said it downloaded. My watch restarted with the gear symbol and later it downloaded 2.70 again through Garmin Connect Mobile. Why that took so long I don't know and why it downloaded a second time I can't answer. I can only speculate that there was a corrupt file the first time..
