FW Update 2.70

I just connected to Express and didn't even realize FW 2.70 downloaded. According to the list, there are several things to test out. I just hope this isn't like the initial release of the FR 235 where one thing was fixed, but the updated crashed something else.

Update: I can now add and change test responses. My Garmin speed & cadence sensors still won't sync unless I pedal my bike and hold the watch inches away from the sensors, so no help there. The other fixes listed I didn't have a problem with or wasn't aware there were issues. So, it appears 2.70 allows me to change text messages and that's about it for me.
  • Came from the Fitbit Blaze to the Garmin VA3. Fitbit would notify me of an update, but allowed me to choose whether to update, or not. Moving to Garmin, I knew I no longer had the option of updating, (don't like that). I don't use Express (not sure of the advantages), but do use the mobile app.

Tonight I got a vibration on my wrist and saw that the VA3 was receiving an update. A few minutes later it is completed and all is I hope, back to normal. I was surprised how quick the update went.

I received my VA3 on 11/30/17 and so far only have an issue with the backlight acttivating whenever it pleases and dismissing notifications when there is more than one. I ended up turning off the backlight and can deal with the notifications until there is a fix. Other than that I have been very pleased with the device.
  • In the 2.70 release notes it says
    • Made improvements to vibrations
Any idea what they have changed?
  • They lengthened the pulses of most types of vibration alerts, from what I can tell (alarm, notification, activity start, etc.). I'm pretty sure this is not going to help those with defective vibration motors, like I had before I swapped for a good working one.

This is a first. After 2.70, the watch failed to record any sleep in Garmin Connect Mobile. Garmin Connect shows my heart rate throughout the night and my sleep time, but Garmin Connect Mobile doesn't show anything for last night after syncing several times. The only thing it shows for last night is a message saying to wear I'm watch through the night to get sleep recordings. Anyone else have this going on?
  • My watch continues with the same issues garmin cadence bike pod. Connection its ok but with continues disconections.
  • Since yesterday's 2.70 update, I am getting random short vibrations every 30 minutes or so that aren't connected to notifications, alarms or timers.
  • Mine just installed this morning. Only issue was I had to do a hard reset to get it to take touchscreen input. No difference noticed yet. I did a 4 mile walk and did not notice any difference in my vibration alerts.

For me the update took about 3-4 hours something like that. This was with garmin connect mobile phone with fast wifi, I dont use Garmin express because it does not work with my old PC. A text came up on the watch with something like 2.70 update is finished. Now the touchscreen or swipe function does not work, maybe have to do a hard reset?

Update, it seems that it did a second update so the touchscreen do work now

I never had a problem with the vibration level on my VA3. The only difference I noticed is they seem to last a little longer, but the intensity seems the same.
  • My sleep, such as it was, recorded last night.

    Vibrations are indeed noticeably longer.

Reps and weight entry on the strength has changed, it's now like the PIN entry in Garmin Pay. Be aware that if you plan to edit either value you have to touch the screen first to get into an edit mode and ungrey the numbers and then enter the number you want. Both fields allow for three digits and you need to put in leading "0" if the number is less than 100.

Altimeter calibration is the same now too.
