Vivoactive 3 firmware 2.60 buglist / feature requests

I have a couple of issues that I would like to see addressed.

-No auto return to watch function: as it is a sports/smart watch I prefer to see the time (eventually). Now the watch will just stay in whatever screen you are indefinitely.
-Another issue that this causes is that even if your watch is locked and you get a steps reminder for example the watch will be locked and in the steps window. This is very inconvenient
-Alarm icon in the shortcut menu doesn't dim when you put the watch on lock mode
-Altitude should not be able to indicate value below 0 meters. I think the software should be smart enough to understand this and not show the value and perform an auto calibrate or something.
-presentation/Visibility of agenda items: not very convenient: please use more lines to actually show the events because now I have to press twice at least to view what it is about. I'd rather scroll to the next event than to tap it, and sometimes even two taps are needed to view all info. For example: tomorrow i have 2 all day events(birthdays). Instead of just showing them it will tell me i have 2 events. I have to tap to see the events but cannot read what they are about as the text will only show a couple of characters. I then have to tap again, go back and read the other one. not user friendly.
-I also have an issue with heartrate measuring too low even with the band very tight.
-Touchscreen sensitivity: in my opinion a waterdrop or a hair should not be able to swipe to the next screen (but it is...). So set the minimum swipe length higher before it will goto another screen
-The sensitivity causes the backlight to go on a lot more than needed, draining the battery more than it should. I see my light go on when i'm not even touching the watch and when it's in my sleeve.
-For some reason the backlight timer interval doesn't appear to work consistently. Sometimes it will go off after the short interval, but other times it will stay on for what feels like forever (maybe it's registering input on the screen?).
-Maybe add an option that with backlight function completely off pressing the button first time will power on the light and second one will do the rest of functionality. Or make a double press = light function.
-I also find that the syncing of new watchfaces/apps over bluetooth can be very slow. When you press install you get the message that it will be installed with the next sync, but for me it seems like I'm doing this multiple times to get the app on my watch.
-temperature shows the warmed up temperature in the watch which is not very useful, maybe an offset could help
-If you hold your finger in the middelf of the side swipe it will sometimes keep going up and down very rapidly as if it cannot make up it's mind.

Please also share your list or bugs so Garmin can fix them soon.
  • Well guess what I also just lost my running app. I also know how to reproduce: Edit the settings of the app and change some of the datafields. I also set auto lap to 1 KM. And presto the app was gone! Clearly a big bug.

I've set auto laps in run and have edited several data fields in multiple apps and have never lost any. You should probably call and email Support about your issue. Did you make a backup copy of all your activity apps so you can restore them?
  • I bought my watch 2 weeks ago & am quite disappointed with battery life coming from VAHR. I have the backlight & gesture turned off completely yet i suspect the light keeps coming on often due to an over sensitive touch screen draining the battery life.

I ran outside for about 2.5 hours yesterday & lost about 40-45% battery life which is quite weird...do any of you have similar issues?

    Other issues:
1.Terrible stair counting. It inflates it to the point of a complete joke. I work in 25th floor & i suspect it is counting each time I take the elevator as a stair. There was also a day where it showed up 2 stairs up & 4 down when i woke up in the morning (!?!).
    2. You can’t reorder the 3rd party apps to show up above garmin default apps, i need to click the funky four circles to access them.
    3. Strength app is a mess. The double tap to start a new set doesnt work in most cases, wish they moved back to hitting the button.
    4. You have to set the number of data fields within an app for all screens. VAHR allowed you to specificy individually per data screen so i could have a consolidated 3rd party data field in first data screen & add others i’d like to see in second screen. I do find this annoying.

Lastly does anyone know how to access the GPS settings to activate GLONASS as well? I live in a dense downtown location where it takes forever for teh watch to pick the GPS signal but can’t seem to do so in VA3.

Ramvivoactive hr... You can add third party apps to the favourites so they go above.i've got two in that list (select add to favourites when you long press them) - is that what you mean?

And I think you stick GLONASS on in the app setttings (i.e Run, Bike etc)

When you select an activity, press settings then GPS. There you can select off, GPS or GPS + Glonass.
  • Thanks AJRyKala ...my 3rd party apps only show up in the favorites for some reason, not in the usual list of apps like it would on a VAHR...may be thats this watch works..

Thanks for pointing out the GLONASS settings, hopefully this should fix the time it takes my watch to pick up GPS.

Has anyone had a problem with the 2.80 and 2.90 firmware updates? since my vivoactive 3 updated to these, the watch randomly turns off and after I put it on charge it turns off also. This is a real shame as the watch was very reliable for me before
  • I have not had this problem. Did you make sure to reset the watch after the firmware update? I think you hold the button in for about 15 seconds until it shuts off. Them turn it back on.
