Vivoactive 3 firmware 2.60 buglist / feature requests

I have a couple of issues that I would like to see addressed.

-No auto return to watch function: as it is a sports/smart watch I prefer to see the time (eventually). Now the watch will just stay in whatever screen you are indefinitely.
-Another issue that this causes is that even if your watch is locked and you get a steps reminder for example the watch will be locked and in the steps window. This is very inconvenient
-Alarm icon in the shortcut menu doesn't dim when you put the watch on lock mode
-Altitude should not be able to indicate value below 0 meters. I think the software should be smart enough to understand this and not show the value and perform an auto calibrate or something.
-presentation/Visibility of agenda items: not very convenient: please use more lines to actually show the events because now I have to press twice at least to view what it is about. I'd rather scroll to the next event than to tap it, and sometimes even two taps are needed to view all info. For example: tomorrow i have 2 all day events(birthdays). Instead of just showing them it will tell me i have 2 events. I have to tap to see the events but cannot read what they are about as the text will only show a couple of characters. I then have to tap again, go back and read the other one. not user friendly.
-I also have an issue with heartrate measuring too low even with the band very tight.
-Touchscreen sensitivity: in my opinion a waterdrop or a hair should not be able to swipe to the next screen (but it is...). So set the minimum swipe length higher before it will goto another screen
-The sensitivity causes the backlight to go on a lot more than needed, draining the battery more than it should. I see my light go on when i'm not even touching the watch and when it's in my sleeve.
-For some reason the backlight timer interval doesn't appear to work consistently. Sometimes it will go off after the short interval, but other times it will stay on for what feels like forever (maybe it's registering input on the screen?).
-Maybe add an option that with backlight function completely off pressing the button first time will power on the light and second one will do the rest of functionality. Or make a double press = light function.
-I also find that the syncing of new watchfaces/apps over bluetooth can be very slow. When you press install you get the message that it will be installed with the next sync, but for me it seems like I'm doing this multiple times to get the app on my watch.
-temperature shows the warmed up temperature in the watch which is not very useful, maybe an offset could help
-If you hold your finger in the middelf of the side swipe it will sometimes keep going up and down very rapidly as if it cannot make up it's mind.

Please also share your list or bugs so Garmin can fix them soon.

    Hello, here are my "list"...

If you already have a connection with a pulse belt and this pulse belt is not active, the VA3 are looking for nonstop ... that costs energy ...

The counter step is too sensitive, you should be able to change the sensitivity.

The own step length has no influence on the calculated steps, the VA3 detects no change in the settings.

    Greetings

    Random restarts.

Backlight on gesture only during activity doesn’t work. Backlight turns on with gesture not during activities.

Had run app disappear, could not find it anywhere on the watch. Had to reset factory defaults.
  • -No auto return to watch function: as it is a sports/smart watch I prefer to see the time (eventually). Now the watch will just stay in whatever screen you are indefinitely.

I'm not seeing this behavior ... if I swipe to the notification screen (or any other), it returns to watch mode after about 30 seconds.

-Altitude should not be able to indicate value below 0 meters. I think the software should be smart enough to understand this and not show the value and perform an auto calibrate or something.

Miscalibration aside ... it's quite possible to be below sea level. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...elow_sea_level

-I also have an issue with heartrate measuring too low even with the band very tight.

I'm seeing that too ... it's not picking up on my activity minutes even when I'm working hard on my bike trainer.

I kind of wish it would look for an external heart rate monitor periodically and use that if it's available.

-The sensitivity causes the backlight to go on a lot more than needed, draining the battery more than it should. I see my light go on when i'm not even touching the watch and when it's in my sleeve.

I'm seeing the backlight go on more often than it really should (I've turned off gesture activation) ... although it doesn't appear to effect battery life for me. With normal usage, I'm loosing about 12% a day. Not bad at all.

-For some reason the backlight timer interval doesn't appear to work consistently. Sometimes it will go off after the short interval, but other times it will stay on for what feels like forever (maybe it's registering input on the screen?).

Yep, I'm seeing that too. I have the backlight timeout set to short and it stays on longer than what I would consider a short time.

Rather than short, medium, long, & extra long, maybe it would be better to specify timeout in terms of seconds.

  • at fallingrock (putting the @ and then the username from the list gives me a json error (omg)) : indeed the auto return to watch was working. Then it must be the screen sentivity or the side swipe that is going crazy preventing the watch from going back to the watch screen. Haven't tested with Side swipe off though.
Didn't know about the altitude. Black sea is more than 400 meters below sea level average. You learn every day :)
For reference I have the backlight gesture set to off.

Yep, I've run below sea level in the past.
e.g. Amsterdam half marathon in 2014 had a stretch of about 2km up to 2m below sea level.
(At the time, measured using a calibrated Fenix).

As the wikipedia article describes, there are many other areas in the Netherlands which have similar topography.

j.vdheiden just as an aside, fully type out the "@" name and, when the forum software brings up the list, just press esc to dismiss the popup. When you post the message, the name will be linked.

calibration should be fixed for elevation, however value below 0 should still be possible so we could use diving apps like on fenix 5.
major bug for me is some preloaded app disapearing liçe yoga, swim, walk....and they are not available for download on the iq store....really annoying.

another issue is that the swimming app (when I still had it...) does not allow pool size smaller than 17 meters....most of the swimming pool I can use are between 10-15m so I cannot use the app...

You can edit swim to 10M in Garmin Connect. I'm headed out to work right now, but I'll send you the yoga, swim and walk apps in a private message with installation instructions later.
  • I lost my walking app. Can someone also send it?
i did notice that when you have multiple events on your day calendar there is some scroll possibility but you still have to tap to see more which is unneeded imo.

I'll send it to you. It'll be about 4 hours before I get home though.
