Spotify Sync Failing After a Few Percent

Running into one of many issues with Venu stability of promised features.  Spotify playlist sync keeps failing after about 3-4%.  Watch is on latest firmware and connected to WiFI.  Anyone else run into this (almost afraid of the answer to this!)?  I'm near the end of my patience as a long time Garmin customer with this watch.  I suspect other major smart watch brands don't run into simple music sync issues.

  • I'm having the same issue, Amplifi Alien router and Garmin Fenix 6S here.

  • Same issue on Vivoactive 4.  The issue is that the watch can't handle networks with that optimize connections ACCROSS 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies.  Try disabling 5Ghz and it should work.

  • Not blaming you but I'm sorry.  This is just unacceptable for a wireless standard that is supposedly supported by the watch.  Same goes for unsupported wireless security protocols (having networks with open access/no password work).  I mean it doesn't matter to me anymore.  I've moved on to Apple watch...which connects right up...streams Spotify to my watch with no phone or sync needed...but come on Garmin?  You would think a company that had to pay a ransom to get back online would learn from past mistakes...but I guess not?

  • I had this same issue in my Venu. Tried disabling 5Ghz but no dice.

What worked for me was on my router’s 2.4Ghz network I disabled WMM (WiFi Multimedia). Now downloads don’t fail anymore after a percent or 2.

  • Wondering jf you ever had resolution on the syncing issue? I am experiencing the exact same thing with the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music watch. Garmin claimed it was a defective watch, sent me a refurbished replacement, and same exact issue is occurring. I'm so frustrated.

  • Nope.  Never resolved.  Garmin developers seem incapable of testing across some of the most common home wireless standards out there and the most popular streaming app they supposedly support.  Moved on with an Apple Watch.  Yeah I know it lacks some of the "active" stuff that many of us originally were drawn to with Garmin...but I got to tell you.  I don't miss any of it.  The Apple watch is trouble free with music streaming.  No sync issues.  No reboot your phone, repair nonsense that plagues all garmin software.  Little risk of your personal data being grabbed from data breach (another signal they are in over their heads).  My advice...if spotify streaming is a deal breaker...come on over.  :)

  • Well that's disappointing to hear. Yeah I'm going to shop around for other smart watches. Thanks for the reply! I'm done with Garmin also.

  • Just a quick update. I decided to try to sync using my hotspot one more time, before tossing my watch out into the snow, and low and behold, it's working!! I've successfully synced 2 of 4 playlists with no sync failures! I'm shocked! I tried syncing using a hotspot in the past, and same sync failure. So this is a workaround, obviously, and doesn't solve the issue that thousands of Garmin customers are unable to sync over wifi.

  • I had the same problem, I think it was an issue with the WiFi rather than the Garmin. As a previous user did, I hot-spotted my phone and synced my Spotify with that and it worked fine.
