Spotify Sync Failing After a Few Percent

Running into one of many issues with Venu stability of promised features.  Spotify playlist sync keeps failing after about 3-4%.  Watch is on latest firmware and connected to WiFI.  Anyone else run into this (almost afraid of the answer to this!)?  I'm near the end of my patience as a long time Garmin customer with this watch.  I suspect other major smart watch brands don't run into simple music sync issues.

Never had that issue, in fact my Spotify experience has been painless on Venu, but you've tried the usual things? Uninstall and reinstall on the watch, restart the watch, remove and re-add the WiFi, reset the watch etc How big is the playlist? Any chance you have used up all the storage on the watch?

  • Yes I've tried all the usual things (amazing we just consider all these hoops we have to jump through as "usual" now with Garmin stuff!).  It had a 50+ song playlist on it.  I removed that...and added a 40 song playlist.  If I cancel the sync and start it up again...it will grab another 2-3% and then stall, so it's not a memory issue.

I'm using an Amplifi Alien Router for WiFi.  I was thinking it might have an issue with that even though other WiFi functions seem to work with it (updates).

Honestly, it's grown very frustrating/tiresome with this company's firmware.  Do they even bother testing this?

You restarted the watch in between removing the playlist and adding the new one? I had an issue with removing a playlist and then trying to add it back which got stuck syncing. A restart of the watch fixed it though and I assumed it was just a cache issue

  • Trying it now after removing it again and rebooting.

  • Okay.  Just tried it.  Still failing.

  • It got 6 tracks in and failed.

That's annoying, apart from a reset of the watch I don't have any other suggestions unfortunately.

  • So I did the full reset of the watch.  Same issue.  I think the watch is just bad.  Going to try to see what support will do.  Otherwise it's just another $400 out the window to Garmin I guess.

I know it probably makes no difference, but you tried removing Spotify and all Garmin apps from your phone and then reinstalling them? I'm just so surprised it seems to persist after a watch reset.

  • Now that is an interesting suggestion.  I have not tried that.  I'd be more apt to remove Garmin app first I think and try since Spotify has no problems with anything else.

Just to update.  I got a replacement Venu from Garmin support under warranty.  Same exact issue on new watch...so it's either the apps on the phone, or it's just hopelessly broken on certain wifi networks?
