Why dont we have Training effect in the Venu?

I really miss this info field from my old forerunner 235. Please Garmin add this info field to the Venu. Many Users will appreciate it. I gave 370 Euro for your product I hope to get the same amount of functions or more than in a cheaper one.

  • No Mark to be honest I didn't even think to check for TE on the Venu before I bought it.  There are plenty more functions on the Venu that hooked me into a sale that I am ultimately very happy with. After a little time to reflect the TE isn't that important to my training as I can still use HR zones.  Thanks for the reality check! Stuck out tongue winking eyeRofl. Didn't mean to make my comment so whiny.

  • Well, I think that's a pretty whiny response. I find it pretty odd that the Venu is blocked from showing TE, which is of course not dependant on the HW, so there is no extra cost involved, which invalidates your Shimano-argument. Really lame coming from the simple FR 235 and moving up to the Venu, and loosing the TE. Just a silly move by Garmin.

  • I too miss the TE, and think that's a valid point. You don't need to apologize to fan boys for raising a request. They are the ones needing a reality check. Slight smile

  • This same kind of thing comes up on these forums all the time. Venu users would like to have Forerunner features, Forerunner 935 users would like to have 945 features. 945 users complain that they don't get the size options like Fenix users and Fenix users complain their super duper watches don't have a nice display like a Venu.

Garmin, like all manufacturers, make different products at different price points for what they perceive to be different markets. It's up to you, the user, to decide which features are crucial for you and which ones are nice to have. Based on that (and price) you select the best device for you. However, you cannot buy one device and then more or less demand Garmin to add features from another device later. Life simply doesn't work that way.

  • what are you saying?? You pay a wrist watch for the material with which it is made and the sensors supplied !! Not to differentiate data information!

E.g. on Venu the "Personalized Training" function is not enabled (which only changes names and times to do Cardio Circuits) just because it is called Venu ?! Wow, I spent 370 € I did not take a Forerunner because I am not interested in running but only fitness and I like the touchscreen ..!

and what have I done wrong ??

  • I never said anybody did anything wrong. But I expect that when anybody makes a purchase decision they look at the pros and cons of the options available and then pick one to suit their needs and budget. If that device does not have TE you don't have a right to demand that to be added later, just like a Fenix user is not entitled to a display upgrade because the Venu has a nicer screen.

  • what are you talking about ?? it is obvious that before buying we see the features and in any case € 370 is not a question of budget, if you look at the item "CUSTOM WORKOUTS" below:
    https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/643260/pn/010-02173-11
but if you go to Workouts and create a "CUSTOM WORKOUTS" (little man with open arms) it won't transfer!
What do we have to do??
As for asking for additions of training information, they are equally obvious statements because they are based on aspects necessary for a sportsman and not on the "questionable" quality of the watch that often does not report these details during the purchase

  • What are you talking about? This discussion is about the Venu providing training effect or not. It's not about transferring custom workouts

  • Now let's see if after Garmin's acquirement of firstbeat, they will bring it to the Venu.

They probably won't, with them being garmin,

  • Again why would they? if they offered all features on all watches why would anyone feel the need to upgrade?  Garmin, like all manufacturers produce specific products aimed at specific markets and the market the Venu is produced for is not deemed to be the serious athlete hence no TE.  Now I know that Ford lock out certain features of their cars software from model to model but would you expect a software upgrade to take your Focus Zetec (i'm in the UK) to that of an ST-Line X with tyre pressure monitors, extra ambient lighting, headlight delay etc? No, you wouldn't as Ford would like you to pay for the extra features.  Garmin is no different as are Polar, Hauwei, Fitbit etc.

Research the product you want, explore its features then buy what best suits you, and then don't expect them to put in features found in higher end models because they want you to BUY those higher end models!!

If they only produced one model and everyone bought it, then no-one would buy another and Garmin would be out of business, when you think about it, it's bloody obvious.
