Right pedal missing and LED pattern

Would someone with a working set of Vector 3 pedals please do me a favour and let me know what the LED pattern is when they are woken. Up until recently, they have been working fine so I never really paid any attention to the LEDs.

I started the thread in the 530 forum as I wasn’t sure what was causing my new issue:

https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-530/166160/cycling-dynamics-not-recorded-on-ant

At the moment, when I wake the pedals, the left does the alternating red and green flashes for about 5-10s (A software update is in progress), then progresses on to 3 green flashes every 10 seconds (The pedal is searching for the other pedal). The right just does a single red flash (The Vector system is active and working properly).

On my Edge 530 I immediately get the Right Pedal Missing and error 400-0 on the left pedal.

The bit that is confusing me is that I can unpair and re-pair the right pedal. So they must be able to communicate on some level.

I contacted Garmin support and they are sending me the MkIII battery doors and battery board. Although I’m not holding out too much hope as my MkII doors look fine.

I’m wondering if this ‘A software update is in progress’ is indicative of the s/w being stuck in some sort of loop and is responsible for my ‘Right Pedal is Missing’.

(I'm using new batteries and 3.6 firmware)

Thanks in advance

  • Looks like the left side's pairing information (with respect to the right pedal) is missing or incorrect, whereas the right pedal has the correct ID.

Use your phone or the Edge 530 to un-link the two pedals. Then re-link them. Make sure that the ID you are entering for the right pedal matches the 7 digit number etched onto the right pedal spindle.

  • I managed to (finally) get rid of the dreaded Right Pedal Missing message. If took multiple pairs/re-pairs, power resets and standing on one leg, facing NE. I also had to reset the random scaling factor of 2 that had gotten into the right pedal.

I'm still thinking it was the Edge 530 that corrupted the configuration. I had been using them trouble-free with my 520 and 935 for about a year.

I've since fitted the Mark III battery caps so fingers-crossed for no more issues.

    Thanks.
