There is a legitimate effort underway to redesign the doors, and there has been for some time. But the redesigned doors are not yet available.
Also, some early production battery doors were subject to greater variability in assembly and that may have led to some of the problems identified by various users. These assembly issues have been identified and corrected as much as possible within the constraints of the existing design.

amazingly, the 'new' doors I received are the same as the old doors...as someone above mentioned, the small pieces of electrical tape seem to be a major issue, and not only are they still there on the replacement doors I received, but one had just fallen off in the packaging...how is this acceptable in any way? Add to that, if you install batteries and even touch the sides of the battery housing, the black tape just comes right off anyway. When these things work, they are excellent, but they have worked for about 15% of the time I have owned them, which is infuriating.

Has the software been modified to cope with this issues and hence the error/sampling rate and or deviation increased resulting in the V3 being less precise than its competitors?
