Any idea when does Garmin usually release firmware updates? its almost a month since the last one.
  • Just so I’m not missing anything here. A new software beta is released, which inter alia fixes the issue with CD not being sent to a 920xt and other units. However, unless you have a unit such as an Edge 820 (which records CD using the current software), you may not install the new software.

    Well played Garmin. Well played.

Apologies for the delay. Please see the post located here for detailed instructions about our new public beta.

you have to be kidding me, capping of a disastrous product launch, the 'fix' requires you to own a newer head unit, I knew there was a reason I stopped buying Garmin products

I installed this new beta firmware using a Garmin 820 that a friend is getting ready to sell me. I normally use a Garmin 510. Results............ It is back to working like it was supposed to for me. Garmin 510 gets cycling dynamics data like it is supposed to, and I didn't experience any other issues, so I can stop grumbling :) I have not tested the Garmin Connect Mobile yet, because that always messed a lot of stuff up, but tomorrow is another day, and I can I can try that.

Maybe we should reword the instructions. Only those listed head units have the inherent ability for you to upload sensor firmware, and then to transfer that firmware to the Vector 3 pedals. As kranderson noted, you can use anyone's newer device to perform the update process, and then you will be able to use your watch or head unit as you had been beforehand.
  • why can't a watch update firmware? So you are saying that an edge unit can upload software to the pedals but my Forerunner 935 or Fenix 5 can't? So, only people with an Edge can participate in the beta programs?

I really don’t know how to respond to this.
