Measurements diapearing from Garmin Connect

So here is what I am observing:

I weigh in on my Garmin Index every morning. If I check Garmin Connect shortly thereafter, it shows all six measurements - weight, body fat, BMI, % water, Muscle Mass, and Bone Mass. Then sometime during the day, all the measurements disappear except for Weight. I have checked Garmin Connect on my PC, Android Phone, and IPad and its the same on all of the, the reset of the measurements are gone.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Dan
  • To those lucky few who don’t have the problem, or who see a correlation with MFP, please take time to read this thread thoroughly. Many of us have demonstrated systematically that MFP is a DISTRACTION for this issue. Many times I have clean uninstalled all related apps. Checked and triple checked no connection to ANY third party apps, including MFP.

And always lose data after syncing with ONLY Fenix 5x Garmin Connect and scale.
  • I have read through this thread. I am just reporting what worked for me with the devices I have. Again, it just illustrates the complexity Garmin faces. No simple fix here.
  • GCM 4.3.1 launched, installed on iPhone 6 on 11.2.5, after sync with Fenix 5 on 8.0 - weight data swiped again from GC.
So no fix with this GCM.

    Well imagine that!

Suggested coping mechanism to avoid living in what seems to be the permanent beta software frustration world of Garmin integration:

Hope for the best. Expect the worst.

But seriously, Garmin communications people reading this, this is way beyond a joke.

It's not so much that it is broken and been broken for a couple of months or that many of us have been sold a device that has never worked as advertised, but that you (Garmin collectively) barely communicate. And and when you do talk to customers about this issue, via your hard pressed and blameless support colleagues, who seem either not to be briefed or to be mechanically following support flowcharts and scripts that frustrate customers and dis-empower support people, it is inconsistent and chaotic.

Suggestion: Tell us what you've found out and what you are doing about it. Make an announcement. Manage expectations. Do your job!

To reiterate: I am talking to communications professionals at Garmin. To social media execs, moderators (pass the message on please), to public relations people at Garmin. Champion the customer, we pay your wages.

And, please, moderator, with all due respect, don't say this is just a community forum. We know that Garmin people lurk on these threads. One of them moderated a comment I left the other day and I thanked him for it because it was evidence (even if tenuous) that at least someone was paying attention.
  • I don't think that GCM is the problem, but the synchronization mechanism in general in conjunction with another Garmin device (Fenix for me). The issue also occurs when Fenix synced with WLAN and not with GCM.
Currently there seem to be two problems. First, if the Index Scale transfers the data before the Fenix has synced the first time a day. And second, if the Fenix synced an activity.
The former can be fixed by first syncing the Fenix and then use the scale. Second only if the activity is only synced the next day.
  • Hi All,

    I have the same problem.
Please do keep in mind that this forum is not systematically monitored/read by Garmin technical and marketing staff...

It is much better to voice your concern directly to Garmin by opening a support ticket with there support line...
The more tickets opened, the more urgent the situation would be!
Make sure you get a Ticket/issue reference in return so that you can track progress against it by quoting the reference on your next call with support...
I have opened a ticket with them and started to "pester" them on a weekly basis for update ("other than will be fixed soon").

The Support channel is the only way to let them know of our disappointment...
I invite each of you to do so if you haven't already done it! until our smart scale becomes smart again (what we pay the premium price for)!

How are you disconnecting MFP?. Are you doing it within the MFP app? Or are you doing it within the Garmin Connect app?. In theory it shouldn't make a difference. I did it within the MFP app and all was good after doing so.

I disconnected through both in multiple combinations. I have been able to see that one i connected and the other not connected. So I have tried each combination of connected from both through their own "get connected" feature, disconnected from both, and connected through each. In all cases weight data was erased. Oddly though, when I connect from say MFP, it gets weight data, but Garmin did not say I was connected to MFP, and the opposite is true.

I'm hoping this gets fixed son. I don't want to have to replace this scale, but if the answer doesn't come soon I feel I have no other option. At least then, the data will be on another platform as a backup.
  • I updated my Fenix 5 to FW 8.0 yesterday and now the parameters are shown in GCM and does not dissapear anymore, so for me the new 8.0 FW made a difference.
  • Hmm - will try a reset - and check (but not before Thursday).

    Hi Everyone,

We apologize for the frustration with your weigh-ins over the last few weeks. We’ve pushed some backend Garmin Connect changes overnight that should resolve your Index weight measurements from being replaced by weight data uploaded via MyFitnessPal and other Garmin wearables. We have a few other planned improvements to ensure you can easily access the data captured by your Index Smart Scale that will be made soon.

Please let us know if you continue to see issues with your weigh-ins.

    Thanks,

    Garmin Product Support
