Measurements diapearing from Garmin Connect

So here is what I am observing:

I weigh in on my Garmin Index every morning. If I check Garmin Connect shortly thereafter, it shows all six measurements - weight, body fat, BMI, % water, Muscle Mass, and Bone Mass. Then sometime during the day, all the measurements disappear except for Weight. I have checked Garmin Connect on my PC, Android Phone, and IPad and its the same on all of the, the reset of the measurements are gone.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Dan
  • ....all the evidence points to MFP being in the clear for this current issue. I..........

For me and others, disconnecting Garmin Connect from MFP has fixed the issue of missing weight related metrics. it seems to be a very complicated issue. Garmin must replicate the problems themselves before issuing a fix. With all the possible combinations/permutations of Garmin fitness devices and third party platforms, it's a daunting task.

Personally, the scale has been working perfectly....and this adds to the problem...why me (and others)?....and others not?

FWIW: My devices syncing: GIS, Edge1030, Edge1000 & Edge800. All via wifi to router only. Phone never connected (no bluetooth used)

I am really surprised and sad about how Garmin is handling this issue. It's been almost 2 months and instead of providing the users in this thread at least weekly updates, they are all silent.

I've posted this thread to Hacker News. (Garmin ignores a widespread bug despite hundreds of forum posts) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16377717
  • Just my 2 cents, got the smart scale yesterday to expand the ecosystem with my fenix5 (FW 8) .....
No data except weight and BMI can survive to Watch sync
So finally fenix is not a multi sport watch (not working with OHR and high intensity sports)... as Garmin stated...
The smart index is not smart... I can't have statistics on my body mass as stated by Garmin.
Local Garmin support is useless (to be kind)
The forum is full of people trying to have answers...

Too many euros spent to have a stylish scrap tool... very unsatisfied

But is Garmin serious at customer support?

It should be so easy to fix

Seems a bit of an odd situation Garmin have arrived at with this. Its certainly nothing to do with MFP as I don't have it connected and I have the same problem. It is data being wiped out when any of my other Garmin devices sync. So for me the readings last about 60 seconds before the Vivosmart HR+ syncs and wipes it out! Very frustrating to say the least.

  • You say your scales are working properly. This is what I thought until Sunday morning when they reported my body fat down 10% overnight. The scales now insist that my body fat is in the region of 15% which simply cannot be correct. If this is the case I will be the first person ever to lose 15kg whilst sleeping.

Incidentally the scales still still report my correct weight

To me, I take the other weight metrics with a "grain of salt" due to the fact that I don't care much about them. I purchased the GIS mainly for keeping track of my weight within Garmin's ecosystem. What I meant to say is that the all other weight metrics have stopped disappearing after disconnecting Garmin Connect from my MFP account
  • Still having the same issue with GC and Vivoactive 3. Once my vivoactive sync's with GC all data except for weight and BMI are lost. Still saving on a secondary GC account to get around this issue. So I do have date that goes back to the 1st part of February. Lost all data past above stated start on January 16th till I started using the second account linked to the Smart Scale.

Hope they get it fixed soon as it is rather hard to use GC as it was intended when I have to have information in two places.

I have been having the same issue. I thought it was MFP, so I disconnected it, and still I am loosing all but weight and BMI. There are a few random days where body fat % and other weight metrics survived, but very few. Has anybody come up with a work around or at least a trigger so we can save our data before it's wiped? Is a separate account the only working solution at the moment?
  • I can weight myself as many times as I want and it will over write the older data for that day. I also look at data for the past 8 days and all the 6 metrics are there when scrolling on GC on my phone. Why am I lucky?
  • I can't believe it... issue turn back!!!!!!!
garmin I don't have words anymore

How are you disconnecting MFP?. Are you doing it within the MFP app? Or are you doing it within the Garmin Connect app?. In theory it shouldn't make a difference. I did it within the MFP app and all was good after doing so.
